We are looking for an assistant psychologist to join our team of psychologists and therapists in GMMH Addiction services. We provide a range of services for people with substance misuse issues through our Achieve partnership in the community (across boroughs of Bury, Bolton, Salford and Trafford), and inpatient detoxification service based in Prestwich.

The post holder will be expected to work in a wide range of community settings across Greater Manchester. Some sessions may involve working in other geographical areas both within and external to the Trust. The post-holder is required to work across various settings and adapt to the safety procedures of each. Travel is an integral part of the post. There may be expectation to work some evenings or weekends, by prior arrangement.

The role of the Assistant Psychologist in Addictions services will be to work alongside clinical psychologists, psychological therapists and recovery co-ordinators to support the delivery of addiction services. The post holder will contribute to psychological group interventions and be involved in co-facilitating groups and coordinating referrals. They will also contribute to the provision of a psychologically informed service for those who have experienced trauma and adversity. This can include supporting delivery of training, supervision and consultancy to the service and liaison with partner agencies.

To support and enhance the provision of psychologically informed care and psychosocial interventions within Addiction services. This will involve a variety of roles, including face-to-face service user contact, attendance at multidisciplinary meetings, and contributions to the development of assessments and formulations e.g. conducting structured assessments and interviews. This will be as part of a team and under the supervision of experienced Clinical Psychologists. There will be some independent working, which will be agreed with the service lead and balanced against the needs of the team. This will be delivered within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
