Meaningful Work From Day One

The Head of Marketing is a senior brand leadership role, responsible for the Jack Daniel’s portfolio in the UK; one of Brown-Forman’s largest, most profitable branded business units globally and the number 1 premium spirit brand in the UK. This role is responsible for the development and deployment of the long term brand and business strategy in service of achieving its vision and ambition in the UK market. This responsibility covers the full range of leadership and influences on brand, portfolio and business value creation.

The position leads, inspires and empowers a team of 7 brand marketers, of which 3 are direct reports and partners with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to influence brand, portfolio & channel strategy as well as spurring innovative thinking to accelerate business growth for both Brown-Forman and our commercial partners.

Success for this position is dependent on a strong drive to deliver results, excellence in communication and influencing skills, a creative mindset and bold, enterprise-wide strategic thinking. An understanding of the latest marketing theory and practice is required as are strong commercial and financial acumen. Additionally, deep knowledge of the evolving UK commercial landscape and how to influence behaviour across an omnichannel path to purchase is a must.

What You Will Do in This Role

The role has responsibility for leading the following:
Value Creation- Strategic direction: Leads the development of strategic portfolio plans which deliver the business ambition whilst dialling up Jack Daniel’s iconicity and relevance in the UK.- Brand proposition: Working with integrated marketing communications (IMC), global brand team and customer marketing, oversees the development of the communication strategy and implementation of all brand and channel activations to ensure the brand is brought to life in an engaging, effective and culturally relevant way. Champions new test and learn initiatives and shares learnings with other markets.- Revenue growth management: Partners with the finance team to deploy all levers of revenue growth management to ensure sustainable, long-term value growth.- Consumer & shopper trends: Partners with the brand and business insights (BBI) team to mine for fresh, penetrating consumer, shopper and category insights which unlock future growth opportunities by informing consumer and channel strategies.

Strategic Relationships and Partnerships- Collaboration with other departments: Builds strong internal relationships across B-F UK’s operation and globally where necessary. Working extensively with the marketing, customer marketing, sales and finance teams among others to effectively deliver growth and business development. Acts as a business partner as well as challenger to key stakeholders.- Agency management: Oversees the management of Jack Daniel’s local agencies including media. Supports the team to ensure that agencies are delivering a high standard of work, on time and constantly seeks to get a fair return for our investment. Ensures that contracts are in place and up-to-date with a clear outline of deliverables.

Drive for Results- Problem solving & prioritisation: Consults widely across the business to understand how and where the team can make the biggest business impact. Proactively identifies the big questions that need to be answered in order to unlock growth.- Brand growth: Delivers near and long-term volume and brand profit growth through a thorough understanding and actioning of key performance drivers. Stays connected to the wider business agenda and day to day challenges from the external consumer and trading environment.- Resource allocation: Ensures the most efficient and effective use of resources through modelling, constant optimisation and robust evaluation.
