Provide exceptional patient care which is underpinned by evidence based practice at OUH

Work in partnership with the patients’ family and friends to be actively involved in the caring process on behalf of the patient where agreed.

Manage, direct and evaluate the nursing care of patients

Communicate effectively information to patients/relatives/carers/ and all members of the multidisciplinary team

Demonstrate high standards of nursing care, reflecting the beliefs about professional nursing practice and patient care.

Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of nursing practice relevant to endoscopy.

Undertake the responsibilities associated with being a mentor and preceptor reflecting the OUH values.

Demonstrate and contribute towards the continuing development of professional nursing practice in the department

Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to others at all times.

Work proactively to ensure every hospital visit meets the needs of the patient and that they are admitted and discharged in a timely manner ensuring effective communication with patient and family throughout patient journey.

Day to day operational management of Endoscopy. To support the Endoscopy sister in the delivery of the service.

Ensure high standards of Professional Practice to maintain quality and safety of patient care, experience and the patient journey.

Monitor key quality and performance indicators and service pressures and recommend/implement actions to address them.

Ensure necessary / appropriate equipment is available for management /treatment needs of the patients in Endoscopy.

Report on workforce requirements for meeting service demand

Line management of staff working within endoscopy

Responsible for staff supervision, annual appraisal, absence management, performance management, identifying and facilitating staff training needs.

Responsible for conducting and monitoring audits

Main duties of the job
