Oncology - Patient Pathway Assistant
The Clinical Oncology Department at North Middlesex University Hospital serves a population that includes patients from West Essex and North and West Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Groups through PAH, and the majority of those living in Enfield and Haringey. The department provides multidisciplinary and multimodality care for all common cancers, some specialist cancers and links in with the Network for more specialised tumours. The cancer service attracts 2500 new referrals per annum which is rising on a yearly basis, and is supported by surgical services which are sub-specialised.
We work within a multi-ethnic population with a high index of deprivation. This is both a challenging and a fascinating hospital to work in.
Patient Pathway Assistant
The post holder will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective appointment scheduling service which includes scheduling patient appointments, cancelling appointments. This also includes the following up of outcomes of appointments with clinicians and using Careflow (the hospital’s patient administration system) to ensure all data is recorded correctly. It may also involve picking up and dropping off medication from pharmacy or patient notes to or from other departments.
North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Hospital Trust (NMUH) is one of London’s busiest healthcare providers, providing hospital care and community services for the 350,000 people living in Enfield, Haringey and beyond.
Our specialist services include HIV, cardiology, blood disorders, diabetes, fertility, sickle cell and thalassemia. In addition to a full range of cancer diagnosis and treatment services, the Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre is based on-site and provides services to support cancer patients’ wellbeing.
We also provide community services and have a dedicated 0-19 service for children and young people in Enfield so that they can get the best possible start in life. This includes health visitors and school nurses who are delivering the national Healthy Child Programme, which provides a structured framework for the delivery of key interventions to support the health and wellbeing of children and families from 0 to 5 and school aged children from 5-19. The 0-19 service aims to improve pathways and partnerships with services in the hospital and deliver excellent care for the children and families.
