Hampshire Refugees Resettlement and Support Service supports refugees who are here under the Government’s UK resettlement programme. The service provides person-centred support to our clients, empowering them to gain the life skills they require to access mainstream services and deal with everyday issues themselves.

We work with a range of agencies to maximise the support and opportunities for clients enabling them to access funding, improve their health and wellbeing, develop English language skills, access education and training so that they can gain employment and to maintain accommodation.

You will be working as part of a team to support refugees to settle into the UK by helping them to settling into their accommodation, access local services and reduce isolation.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
- You will support refugees to help get them resettled
- Implement refugee needs assessments and risk management plans
- Support refugees with advice on housing and related matters
- Liaise with housing and other agencies on behalf of refugees
- Assist with welfare benefit issues, help source household goods via various schemes and utilise any funding available
- Support refugees liaise with gas & electricity suppliers and other suppliers as necessary
- Be a key contact for refugees when they are experiencing difficulty
- Work with interpreters, colleges, training agencies, employers, Job Centre plus to help the client have access to training, education, voluntary work, work experience
- Organise and encourage refugee participation in the community
- Any other reasonable task as requested by a member of staff

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING**

Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with refugees. Your values will match ours, you will be committed to helping others and enjoy the real job satisfaction that this brings.
- Clear verbal and written English
- Good IT and keyboard skills
- Polite, assertive manner, ability to self -motivate
- Passion for working in a client/customer facing role
- Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation
- Have an interest and genuine concern for refugees, homelessness and related issues
- ** Full drivers’ licence and access to a vehicle is required for this role due to the travel involved.**

We were formed in April 2001 through the merger of the Society of St Dismas (founded in 1962) and St Petroc Housing association (founded in 1972). Both organisations shared a passion for housing and supporting vulnerable single people.

Our vision today is to give people who are homeless, vulnerable or in need of support, the opportunity to build a brighter future.

We have services in Berkshire, Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and Sussex.

We support 16-65 year olds. Our services include outreach to rough sleepers, supported accommodation (direct access hostels, move-on accommodation, and resettlement flats), day centres, community support, housing first and landlord support services.
