Nursery Apprentice

_Our client currently has an exciting opportunity for a Nursery Apprentice to join their busy team in Wimbledon _
You will be training towards working as a qualified member of the nursery team to ensure that all children attending the setting receive high quality care, are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play opportunities which meet their individual needs.
**Nursery Apprentice Duties**:
- To understand the nursery vision and comply to the statutory framework for the EYFS
- To support staff in providing high standards of quality within the nursery including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children
- To learn to observe, support and extend children’s learning
- To learn to plan appropriately for children using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance
- To develop the skills to be a Key Person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families (max. 3)
- Maintain accurate, effective and current children’s records with training and support from Room Leader
- Demonstrate good understanding of practise with regard to special educational needs and inclusion
- Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand, and when necessary, follow safeguarding procedures
- Develop an understanding of the importance of working as part of a multi-agency team for the benefits of the child.
**Nursery Apprentice Requirements**:
- Willingness to train towards a relevant childcare qualification
- Enthusiasm for gaining more early years knowledge
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues, parents and outside agencies
- Willingness to undertake further relevant training including some evenings and weekends
**Desirable, but not essential**:
- Experience working with children 0-5 years
- A childcare and education qualification equivalent to NVQ level 1
- Current First Aid at work Qualification
- A foundation knowledge of child development for children from birth to 5 years
- A foundation knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum
- An understanding of a play-based approach to children’s learning and development
- The ability to take responsibility for and achieve topic planning, observations and children’s profiles
- An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities
- An understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace
