This is a maternity cover contract for a minimum 12 months

**General Purpose**

General accounting including payroll administration preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the senior accountant in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

**Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities**

**Carry out all payroll administration including**:

- Setting up new starters on payroll system, dealing with leavers and producing P45’s and all submissions via internet to HMRC.
- Updating existing payroll records with current information, including setting up new SMP/SSP/SPP records and attachment of earnings as appropriate.
- Updating of various spreadsheets according to department in order to record accrued holidays for casual staff and bonuses to be paid over to productive staff.
- Collation and input of time owing according to clock cards and clocking and bookings reports, in addition to checking for anomalies on these documents.
- Production of all payslips for issue to employees.
- Running of all payroll weekly/monthly reports which provide input onto accounts via monthly journal.
- Taking back up of data to ensure an accurate payroll record on the system and updating the payroll records to reflect roll over to next tax period.
- Keeping weekly records of deductions for monthly P32 payment and reconciling the P32 to manual records
- Keeping paper and electronic records for each tax month.
- Running payroll year end and submitting information via internet to HMRC.
- Maintenance of various spreadsheets relating to wages and personal information.
- Ensuring all absences are recorded correctly on HR system and that all personal filing is recorded correctly and up to date where specified by management.
- Liaising with government authorities where appropriate
- Managing the auto enrolment pension scheme.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: Up to £30,000.00 per year

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Accounting: 2 years (preferred)
- Accounts receivable: 2 years (required)
