**Purpose of the Role**

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Governance & Operations will be accountable for all day-to-day governance and compliance functions of the Trust. The Head of Governance & Operations will be responsible for effective operational leadership and governance across the Trust, including the implementation of all policies and procedures. The Head of Governance & Operations will be a senior leader within the Trust’s Senior Management Team (SMT) and will lead on all aspects of quality assurance and risk management, whilst maximising workforce contribution and efficiencies.

**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**

Lead on the Premier League Charitable Fund/English Football League Trusts’ Capability Code of Practice process ensuring full operational compliance and achievement of ‘Exceeding Expectations’ rating.

Work closely with Heads of Departments to improve efficiencies, processes, and procedures to optimise capacity and productivity.

Drive excellence in governance, quality assurance and good practice across all Trust operations.

Implement effective processes and arrangements for managing and mitigating risks.

Support the recruitment and onboarding of Trustees, Patrons and Board Advisors, supporting the annual review of Board effectiveness.

Operational responsibility for the implementation and oversight of sound risk management systems, including reporting and advising on significant risks to the CEO.

Lead on the writing and review of key governance and quality assurance policies, including risk management and critical incident planning.

Ensure full compliance with legal obligations and regulatory changes relating to the charity sector and ensure appropriate corporate responses.

Influence the development of organisational training programmes relating to governance and capability.

Facilitate and/or run best practice workshops and training events as appropriate.

Provide reports to the Board of Trustees on key governance and quality assurance activities, emerging risks and recommend suggested operational improvements.

Line manage operational staff and oversee all facility operations and developments, supporting with general functional duties.

Increase awareness and implement systems that contributes to supporting climate change and environmental sustainability across staff, stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Oversee the weekly delivery itinerary and have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations and logistics of the Trust.

Manage the Trust’s asset register, including vehicles.

**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**

Knowledge of good governance, quality assurance and operational best practice in the charity sector.

Experience of interpreting governance and quality assurance good practice and implementing operational effectiveness.

Experience of working within a legal or regulatory framework and assessing compliance against standards.

Ability to confidently communicate governance and compliance standards to multiple audiences.

Knowledge of compliance, audit functions and processes.

Experience of working with and supporting Board members and senior staff in a governance role.

Demonstrable line management experience and ability to improve operational standards.

Experience of developing or working to quality management standards.

Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise, multi-task and manage own workload.

Performance driven and results orientated to meet the highest standards.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Excellent IT skills, including spreadsheets (e.g. Excel) and databases (e.g. Salesforce).
