**Technical Leader**

**Team/Project**:EPOS

**Job Purpose**:Technical Leader of EPOS (Point of Sale solution)

This position will sit within the EPOS team which provides a supplier-based Point of Sale solution in more than 20 countries all across the world (Africa, Europe and America) which represent more than 3000 tills in our Decathlon stores. EPOS team is currently composed of a Product Manager, a Technical Project Manager, Quality Analysts and Support / Operation Engineers.

The EPOS solution has been customized by the supplier to make sure it fits Decathlon needs and therefore has a strong integration with some already existing Decathlon modules (Products, Prices, Member, Finance,...).

We are looking for a Technical Leader to make sure the solution evolves nicely with the Decathlon ecosystem, work closely with the Product Manager to build the functional / technical specifications and challenge the current supplier in the provided developments (design, quality and security). You will be as well responsible to define and lead the internal technical vision of the product aligned with the Decathlon United strategy.

**Ensure new features are designed with high quality level**
- Support Product Manager in building the specifications for the new features in the roadmap.
- Challenge the supplier to make sure the delivery is reaching Decathlon high expectations (architecture, security,..)
- Ensure any new technical requirement from the Decathlon ecosystem is properly integrated in EPOS.

**Define and lead the product technical vision**
- Build a technical vision aligned with the country needs and Decathlon United strategy about the future of POS.
- Participate actively in the architecture sessions for the future of POS at the Decathlon United level.
- Build the technical transformation trajectory with the concrete business oriented KPIs and the resource needed for each milestone and validate it with your Engineering Manager.
- Design and build the new technical components to be integrated in the newly United POS Architecture

**Guarantee our own components availability and performance in production**
- Provide my technical expertise on production incidents and participate in Post-mortem meetings.
- Ensure Support / Operation Engineers are autonomous to support / deploy the newly created components.
- Ensure performance tests run regularly and take actions when needed.
- Support Operation Engineer in building and testing DRP processes.

**Share engineering best practices and improve our standards and processes**
- Share engineering best practices by giving presentations or dojos.
- Participate actively in the UK Engineering community to improve our standards and processes.
- Test new ways of working and technology to improve daily work.

**Skills needed for the job**
- 5+ years working in backend development, microservice architecture.
- Strong quality mindset (scalable design, api first, clean code, testing, security,..)
- You know how to step back and judge the relevance of technical choices
- You have an agile mindset focused on continuous improvement and collective intelligence.
- You are passionate about technology and like to share and contribute.

**Specific requirements / work environment**

Stack used only on the component Decathlon built (it means not in the POS vendor side
- Cloud based infrastructure (GCP, Kubernetes)
- Backend : NodeJs / Typescript (used on the project), Java (globally used in Decathlon)

Tooling : Github, Confluence, Jira, Slack, Google suite

Work environment : Macbook, Windows, Chromebook
