Research Associate On ‘right to Strike’ Project

**The role**:
This role will involve provision of research support for activities linked to a larger project on ‘The Right to Strike’ involving the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) based in Brussels and the Solidarity Center, Washington DC, USA. The University of Bristol Law School is responsible for one part of the project, namely to ‘Produce Original Legal Research That Reconceptualizes the Right to Strike so as to be Effective in the 21st Century’. The research associate will work with the PI on producing an edited book and/or special issue of a journal, compiling different perspectives on legal protection of a right to strike, globally, regionally and domestically. This will involve liaising with prominent labour law academics and practitioners, editing texts of journal articles and/or book chapters, assisting in drafting policy papers and engaging in independent legal research. There would be an opportunity for the research associate to contribute as a named author and editor to publications arising from this project.
**What will you be doing?**:
We are looking for specialist knowledge in law or a social sciences field relevant to the project. In this respect, we would expect a relevant postgraduate research degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience or that you are working towards one. You should also have excellent analytical, communication and IT skills. You will also be expected to organise your own time and work, to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities. Previous knowledge or experience of international labour standards and domestic labour law and/or experience with comparative legal methodology would also be desirable, but is not necessary. We would welcome applicants who have a PhD academic or policy-related publications, although this is not essential.
