Nhs Receptionist Apprentice

**What will the apprentice be doing?**
Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided for patients and any other visitors to the practice
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
- Receive and make telephone calls, transfer calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
- Using your own judgement and communication skills ensures that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
- Deal with all tasks received, whether patient related or not, in a timely and accurate manner
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts
- Ensure that all new patients are registered on the computer system promptly and accurately
- Enter patient information on to the computer as required
- Accurately process patient’s change of address - computer and paper medical records
- Open and distribute any incoming mail in line with practice protocol
- To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the patient services manager
**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**
- Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner standard
**What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?**
- It is hoped that the successful applicant will continue to work on a full-time basis with Churchmere Medical Group following completion of the apprenticeship (this will be dependent upon performance throughout the duration of the apprenticeship programme)
- If it transpires that continued employment with Churchmere Medical Group is not the preferred option, the training, experience and qualifications gained throughout the apprenticeship will stand the apprentice in very good stead to gain future employment

**Salary**: £5.00-£5.50 per hour
