Senior Programme Manager
We are looking for an experienced Senior Programme Manager to join an organisation building brighter futures for vulnerable children.
Position: Senior Programme Manager
Location: Milton Keynes (UK based applicants only)
Hours: Full-time - 36.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
**Salary**: £38,391 per annum, depending on experience good range of benefits

About the role:
The organisation's Programme Management Unit consists of 13 staff. In FY23 the PMU was responsible for delivering 67 programmes funded through institutional grants, contracts for services, and private and corporate philanthropy worth over £45 million. Their current projection for FY24 is 32 projects worth £25 million. Projects are often in 'fragile contexts', with the bulk of our investments being in East Africa and Eastern Europe.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Line management of Programme Managers while ensuring they are inspired to deliver their responsibilities.
*Ensure that systems are in place to identify and manage risks within programmes and support Programme Managers to address issues that occur during implementation.
*Responsible for monitoring and reporting on key business performance data for sub-unit.
*Actively engage with country-specific and thematic NGO networks or research institutions to enhance learning and information sharing.
About you:
For the role of Senior Programme Manager, you will be able to build open and accountable relationships and partnerships with key external stakeholders to achieve agreed upon goals to broaden our impact. You will be able to adapt your communication styles and language to positively impact different individuals or groups as well as negotiate well, with purpose and integrity. You will also have the ability to monitor, analyse and manage risks appropriately to inform decision-making and actions.
Key skills required to succeed in this role include:
*Excellent knowledge of the development and humanitarian sector, including policies and approaches to effective work in fragile states.
*Proven experience in programme, financial and compliance management work, in the development or humanitarian sector, ideally within a fragile context.
*Demonstrated knowledge and competence of complex grant programme management, including monitoring, and financial and risk management. Experience in managing DFID grants is particularly desired.
*Knowledge and experience of commercial contracts in the development or humanitarian sector, particularly World Bank.
*Experience in managing multi-agency, multi-stakeholder programmes, including experience in managing partners or sub-contractors, demonstrating strong coordination and facilitation skills.
*Proven track record in risk mitigation.
