An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit to Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust. This is for a Band 6 leadership and enhanced clinical skills role to support and build a new service, within the trust and work within our friendly Gynaecology Theatre teams.

This post is advertised as a permanent post. You will be working across both the City Hospital, QMC campus and the private sector. This service will run 5 days a week and there is a requirement to work flexibly with on call commitments and duties.

Main duties of the job

Ensure the highest standards of care and safety standards within NUH theatres and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary teams implement and maintain systems and processes which ensure standards are maintained.

Provide leadership, advice and support to theatre staff and foster a learning culture which values high quality safe patient care.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person with an interest in women and gynaecology. You will be required to work closely with the existing team structure and demonstrate the skills to lead the team and support further development of these expanding services. You will be required to have experience working within a robotic surgical environment. If you do not posses a Surgical First Assistant (SFA) qualification, you will be expected to work towards this alongside a basic surgical skills course.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to work in a flexible manner in diverse clinical environments. The successful applicant will have a high level of self-management skills. This will include, time management, prioritisation and organisation.

Responsibilities include:
Act as an expert resource for the multi-professional team, specialty,

Be visible, accessible and assertive, co-ordinating all aspects of patient care and staff management on a daily basis

Act as a Surgical First Assistant and/or Robotic Assistant providing clinical support as and when required.

Be a visible point of contact for patients, visitors and all the MDT, acting as a resource for problems and needs

Proactively seek feedback on patient and public experiences and act on recommendations as required

Monitor the quality of patient care and ensure the highest standards of patient care are in place and reviewed accordingly. Devise clear action plans to address any care deficiencies and ensure agreed actions are implemented and evaluated.

Respond promptly to emerging clinical needs, complaints, and incidents and develop and participate in appropriate action plans in line with clinical governance.

Ensure the nursing records and documentation is maintained in accordance with local and national guidelines.

Lead and facilitate the development of clinical guidelines, protocols and patient care policies and procedures utilising audit results, risk assessments and best practice guidelines. Implement and ensure best practice is embedded within care delivery. Actively encourage the use of clinical information to improve the quality of patient care

Contribute to the development and delivery of a corporate nursing and midwifery strategy, developing specialty practitioner objectives which support the delivery of the nursing strategy

Review team composition, performance and deficiencies to ensure the correct skill mix to provide quality patient care. Co-ordinate the process of recruitment of team members.

Establish a clear focus and direction for the team, allocate work amongst the team ensuring staff understand the purpose and objectives of the unit/department and their role within the team. Provide them with guidance and support in order for them to fulfil their roles.
