The post-holder is a key member of the Maternity & Gynaecology Team and will lead, co-ordinate and deliver a broad portfolio of quality initiatives.

The post holder will support the Trust Maternity Compliance Lead in working in partnership with the Executive Team, care groups and support services to influence and provide advice and coaching that enables the network to effectively drive, deliver and provide evidence based assurance that the requirements of quality and regulatory compliance are being implemented effectively and sustainably.

Managerial/Leadership
- To demonstrate a professional approach to work and promote positive relationships with other departments/multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide, and deliver as appropriate, high quality and professional reports and presentations for committees on all matters of quality management and compliance in a format that enables the Board to make an informed decision.
- To influence senior management to develop a culture of high level quality compliance within the organisation, ensuring the regulatory landscape is understood.
- Dissertate highly complex and/or sensitive information and ideas to others with due regard to the needs/levels of understanding of the recipients. This may involve overcoming barriers to understanding and/or where expert opinion differs.
- Work closely with the Maternity & Gynaecology Triumvirates, Patient Safety Lead and safety champions to develop a culture of learning.
- Responsible for the management of Audit and Quality team to undertake appraisals and manage sickness absence, conduct and capability
- To manage the budget for the Audit and Quality team.
- Liaise with compliance leads within local NHS organisations to ensure that compliance activities are co-ordinated.
- Develop and lead on the monitoring process for compliance action plans and take remedial action or make adjustments and regularly report on progress with the compliance governance agenda within the governance frameworks of the organisation.
- Participate in on call manager rota.

The key purpose of this role is to deliver an 'outstanding’ service and the job holder will be expected to deliver this level of service through personal conduct, personal responsibility and by demonstrating behaviours in line with the women’s services Departmental objectives.

Care Quality Commission Compliance
- To support the Head of Compliance in all matters relating to a CQC Inspection and lead on specific workstreams.
- Provide a framework within the Directorates to provide assurance as to Maternity Service’s performance with each of the Regulations.
- Lead the Peer Review scheme in Maternity (a programme of internal CQC-style mock inspections), to generate intelligence about the Directorate’s performance in relation to CQC standards.
- Ensure that all associated improvement plans are co-produced with the staff and external service users and groups, and are fit for purpose and monitored and updated appropriately. Report on progress in accordance with the governance frameworks of the Care Group.
- Compile the information packs which will provide the CQC inspectors with an overview of the service.
- Collation and sense checking of large quantities of data items requested by the CQC within timeframes stipulated by CQC prior to the inspection, during and after the inspection.
- To be responsible for developing an action plan addressing any compliance actions, ‘Must Dos’ and ‘should dos’ identified within the CQC report of inspection and ensure that progress is reported regularly to the Care Group and Executive team.
- Educate and train staff in CQC compliance and practice in conjunction with the Head of Compliance.
- Be a recognised expert on all CQC compliance matters within Maternity Services and as such contribute to an organisational wide advisory and guidance service with the Head of Compliance.
