We are looking for an Assistant Housemistress/Housemaster to join our friendly Boarding team.

**20 Hours per week, term time only (including weekends)**
The Assistant Housemistress’/Housemaster primary purpose is to safeguard and promote the welfare of Boarders, assisting in the day-to-day practical duties of the Boarding House and working as part of a team to help achieve the overall aims of the College.
The Assistant Housemistress will be expected to hold a current First Aid qualification. The College will provide training or pay reasonable training costs where the need arises. “Everyday” work equipment and Personal Protective Equipment will be supplied as required.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
Under the guidance of the Housemistress, the Assistant Housemistress/Housemaster will have responsibility for:
- To promote a homely feel within the Boarding House and assist in the day to day running of the House and pastoral care of boarders.
- Looking after the physical needs of the boarders, for example, ensuring they have the appropriate toiletries to hand, equipment supplies such as stationery and pens, checking that younger boarders have everything needed for the school day.
- Checking common rooms, to include regular fridge and freezer checks.
- Monitoring the boarders personal hygiene, guide and encourage them to keep their living areas clean, tidy and well organised.
- Ensuring Boarders’ washing is done regularly and that boarders have clean clothes to wear and to follow up on missing items.
- Liaising with the second hand uniform shop.
- Making beds of younger boarders as appropriate.
- Monitoring and care of any sick boarders during the day, bringing meals, drinks and medicines and keeping other staff (for example, the Head of Boarding, the Nurse, Duty Staff) informed of the boarders’ condition;
- Issue non-prescription drugs and record on medical records and ISAMS, ensuring all drugs are kept safe in locked cabinet in accordance with Boarding House policy.
- Recording Boarders’ medical and pastoral details on ISAMS.
- Ensuring supplies of milk, tea, coffee, cereal and fruit to the Boarding House;
- Reporting any repairs or damages to the Estates Manager via the VLE and keeping the Head of Boarding informed;
- Ensuring the furnishings within Boarding are maintained to a good standard; reporting issues to Head of Boarding.
- Before the end of each term organise the checking all bedding, furniture, fixtures and fittings and prepare a list of items for repair in consultation with the Housemistress.
- At the end of the holidays, to organise the preparation of the bedrooms and dormitories for occupation, to check that repairs have been done and that they are clean and presentable.
- Liaise with the Housemistress to ensure high levels of cleanliness in the Boarding House and do additional cleaning where not provided by contract cleaners or arising outside contract cleaner’s normal hours.
- Accompanying Boarders to appointments with doctors, dentists or opticians as required.
