Practice Educator for Physical Health

The post holder will have the responsibility for engagement and clinical contact with Registered Mental Health Nurses and Nursing Associates employed within BDCFT mental health services. This will involve developing, delivering and supporting implementation of a portfolio of physical health training, peer support networks and holistic pastoral support.
This role will work closely with experienced clinicians and educators from across BDCFT services to develop and facilitate a tailored, blended programme of face to face, on-line learning and clinical skills teaching across a physical health portfolio based on evidence based practice. They will ensure flexibility to meet the bespoke needs of each individual but also realise the benefit of joint learning opportunities.
The post holder will undertake any additional projects as required in relation to the portfolio of the Virtual Centre for Clinical Education and Professional Development.

With a background as an Adult Registered Nurse the applicant will have significant experience in both physical health care and developing, designing and delivering teaching and education to students or staff groups.
As a visible and accessible role model within mental health services the post holder will support the trust to deliver a robust portfolio of adult physical health education and training for delivery to registered mental health nurses and registered nursing associates working in mental health services.
Key duties will include to
develop and support direct implementation of physical health training based on Health Education England Physical Health Competency Framework for Mental Health and Learning Disability Settings (2020) across mental health inpatient wards/community based teams
develop and facilitate a refreshed, tailored, blended programme of face to face, on-line learning and clinical skills teaching
evaluate the impact of the development of the ward/team-based training package
develop and facilitate peer support networks
ensure live register of training provided and attendees and trajectory to meet the physical health training needs of the mental health workforce
Provide frequent pastoral support
