Bidfood are expanding to a new site in Bedford (Biggleswade) and we are now looking for dynamic individuals to join our stock team. You will be part of setting up the depot to make it operational and we will require you to get involved in a wide range of tasks within the warehouse. We are looking for hard working, hands on individuals who can display our care share and dare values to make this new opening a success.

As Transport operative you’ll be:

- Working as a member of transport team looking after and dealing with all Health & Safety aspects of the Transport Yard.
- Responsible for the safe operation of everyone and everything in this area from our own outgoing drivers and vehicles in the morning, our Third Party hauliers and drivers delivering to the site and then our returning vehicles and drivers later in the day.
- Providing assistance to the Transport and Warehouse teams with deliveries and vehicle movement.
- Ensuring the safe operating systems in the yard in conjunction with the Transport and Warehouse teams.

It is essential for all applicants to have basic knowledge of safe systems of work, a good mind towards a dynamic and on the spot risk assessment strategy and how the mind works of an LGV driver therefore it is essential you have a background knowledge of working in a fast paced transport environment. An LGV license is not essential as there will be no requirement to shunt or move vehicles.

You’ll be moving around a lot, so a good level of physical fitness will help you on your journey with us. It’s also important that you care about your team, our customers and our goods. Most of all, you’ll work hard to make sure our drivers leave the warehouse on time safely, so our customers get the food they need.
