**Head of HR - 6 month Interim**

**Role responsibilities** (include information on people management/teams, budgets and other resources with direct responsibility)
Responsible for the human resources department including the development, dissemination and implementation of human resources policies, practices, employee handbooks and plans. He/she will contribute to the overall strategic planning and management of the businessin relation to employee issues.

To provide professional advice and guidance on employment issues and promote at all times equality of opportunity in a context of valued employee diversity. As a practitioner of job evaluation the post holder will be responsible for the maintenance and continuedbest practice of the HERA job evaluation scheme in accordance with ECC guidelines.

The post holder will be aware of and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

**Main responsibilities, duties and accountability of the role**:

- Develop and implement HR initiatives in line with organisational objectives. To determine, agree and implement human resources operational plans, employment policies and procedures. To oversee the review and update of existing employment policies and proceduresin line with employment law and legislation changes. To ensure all policies and procedures are complaint, fair and operationally achievable. To oversee maintenance of the employee handbook in line with changes to employment law.
- To provide professional advice and guidance to managers to enable them to implement HR policies and procedures effectively and with confidence.
To provide advice and guidance on employee relations matters including attending grievance, disciplinary or appeal hearings as appropriate with company policy and legal guidelines.
- Lead the HR department team to provide an efficient, effective and professionally competent business wide services for managers and employees. To ensure integrity and professionalism of all HR team members and review performance and continuing professionaldevelopment at least on an annual basis. To undertake regular team briefings to maintain communication and information flow. To train, mentor and advise individuals within the HR team. To seek out and implement improvements and efficiencies as a routine withinthe day to day working of the department. To regularly review HR activities and seek innovative and creative ways to improve service delivery, efficiency levels and job satisfaction. Ensure that team activities are at all times compliant with GDPR and thatteam members are mindful of this in their day to day activities. To ensure HR department complies with internal and external audits.
- Oversee as appropriate matters concerning contractual terms and conditions related but not limited to recruitment and selection, organisational change, restructuring, discipline and grievance procedures, change management and monitoring and reporting. Toensure the annual personal progress and development review (PDR) is regularly reviewed, continues to meet the needs of the business and is provided for all employees as appropriate.
