**The Behaviour Clinic**

The Behaviour Clinic is a multidisciplinary therapeutic organisation providing support to children, families and adults across Wales and South West England. The clinic applies the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis to trauma informed care and therapy to support typically developing individuals with a range of complex emotional and behavioural challenges. We are a dedicated team looking for a new team member who is committed to providing excellent support to clients and the therapists they work with.

**MAPSS Service**

The MAPSS service will work in partnership with the Cwm Taf Morgannwg regional collaborative to provide intensive support to care experienced young people, children and their carers in order to enhance stability and improve emotional well-being. They provide a specialist multi-disciplinary therapeutic intervention service to achieve positive outcomes for children with the highest needs through joint working, robust assessments, and a suite of therapeutic options. Their basis in in providing trauma informed care and intervention.

**Consultant Therapist MAPSS**

The role of a Consultant Therapist is to provide assessment and therapy services to families, support therapy staff, and co-ordinate MAPSS services. Within the MAPSS service consultants are responsible for one local authority area, providing consultation to social workers, providing assessment recommending therapy, providing training workshops, developing the service and supporting therapists. Consultants undertake all consultation assessments with social workers, foster carers and adoptive parents for the region during weekly consultation surgeries (typically 1-3 per week) and write reports based on their recommendations.

They will also support the MAPSS service lead to coordinate the service and disseminate information about the service. All services provided are trauma informed. This role is suitable for experienced and registered

BCBA’s, Play Therapists, Psychotherapists, CBT Therapist, Clinical/Therapeutic Social Workers or other therapists who have worked in a trauma informed care setting.

Consultants within the MAPSS service will supervise and support a small team of therapists motivating their team to add value to the service provided to clients. Duties will include providing individual and group clinical supervision, supporting their team to understand practices, monitoring work, providing quality assurance, promoting The Behaviour Clinic values within their team, promoting full use of The Behaviour Clinic’s computer system, promoting services and providing proposals of work to customers.

Consultants within the MAPSS team hold a small caseload of therapeutic, assessment and court assessment cases that include providing therapy to patients, completing assessment of children with complex emotional and behavioural needs, undertaking consultations with parents and schools, delivering training workshops monthly, creating behaviour support plans, and working with other therapists to meet patient’s needs.

As part of the MAPSS service consultants will need to consider research to evidence practice and ensure outcomes are being met and contribute to research to advance our field.

This post is suitable for experienced therapists who are confident in their assessment and writeup skills and who wish to support other therapists to reach their potential. The Consultant Therapist will be responsible for advocating for and developing services linked to their expertise for the MAPSS service. This will include developing and delivering training for carers and professionals, running group sessions for children or carers and developing new initiatives to support the team around the child.
