We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist/High Intensity Therapist to join a team of passionate and supportive Psychological Therapists. This post sits within the Interventions Team of the CYP Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Care Group (previously Specialist Camhs). As well as being part of an established group of psychological therapists you will also be part of a wider MDT that value psychological thinking and practice. The service has undergone much development recently. We are committed to compassionate and understanding relationships with young people, families and their communities, so the right interventions can be offered in the right way, at the right time. As a team we are committed to supporting staff to maintain a healthy work-life balance, create a culture of continuous learning and opportunities for staff to develop their skills and interests through training and innovative practice. As well as providing specialist psychological intervention to young people and their families, this post will involve care coordination of complex young people and their systems, management and supervision of other team members, consultation and service development.

The successful candidate will have highly developed skills in engaging children, young people and their families experiencing significant distress. They will also be able to work flexibly and creative ways to consider how all aspects of the service is psychologically informed.

Main duties of the job 1. The post holder will be a highly skilled clinician with a breadth of mental health expertise and core professional qualification in this field. They will contribute to a specialist pathway of care by working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary workers and peer support workers in the development and implementation of specialist psychological therapy in the context of more complex care which address the physical, psychological and psychosocial needs of service users and their families/carers.

2. To provide high intensity, specialist evidence-based psychological therapy interventions (requiring psychological therapist specialist training) and to support delivery of a pathway of condition specific care which will deliver high fidelity psychological interventions as designated in Matrics Cymru.

3. This will require that high intensity, standardised Psychological Therapies (CBT, IPT etc), are delivered to protocol in a specialist area. This will require skills for interfacing effectively with other services, ensuring smooth transitions for service users so that they receive timely matched care.

4. The post holder will be responsible for planning and organising specialist delivery of therapy within the context of complex care and to liaise to support the delivery of a full range of high-quality specialist clinical services. They will share responsibility for providing support and supervision across the workers of the team. This is a fixed term post for 12 months to cover the needs of the service.

  • Relevant registration and qualification as stipulated in the job description.
Desirable
  • Portfolio evidencing supervised practice in supervision and further relevant training.
Experience Essential
  • Extensive experience of undertaking assessments and providing evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience in providing supervision / consultation for other clinicians.
  • Experience of effective multidisciplinary/ team working NHS/equivalent.
  • Experience of participating in the planning and development of services.
Desirable
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
Skills Essential
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills to convey and receive complex, highly technical, sensitive information effectively at both a written and oral level.
  • Skilled in working with people at all levels from all disciplines and interagency level.
  • Ability to engage others in collaborative change processes.
  • High level of presentation and report writing skills for clinical and academic content in a range of contexts.
  • Ability to make clinical and service-related judgements involving complex facts requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
  • Ability to critically evaluate research evidence relating to clinical effectiveness and service development.
  • Ability to plan, formulate, organise and implement a broad range of complex clinical and service-related operational activities, programmes and plans.
  • Specialist skills in working with complex mental health problems.
  • Skilled and experienced in providing clinical supervision to a range of clinicians.
