We have a fabulous job opportunity for a live in Handy Person to join one of our prestigious leasehold sites located in the idyllic town of Tynemouth. This site is home to leaseholders who are aged 55+ and they live independently but socialise together within the schemes communal lounge and gardens.

We are responsible for managing the buildings they live in and ensure it is safe and secure. Your purpose will be to keep the property and its grounds well maintained and in good order and be sure to deliver a high standard of service to our customers.

Private accommodation is provided as part of this role, it’s a lovely two-bedroom first floor flat close to the beach.

**Typical day as a Handy Person**

**Maintenance of Communal Areas**
- Doing minor or emergency repairs e.g. locks and hinges, fixing toilet seats, touching up paint, changing tap washers, changing lightbulbs, unblocking sinks in a timely manner
- Support with putting up shelves, hanging pictures and curtain poles etc.
- Making sure maintenance issues beyond your scope are reported to the relevant colleagues.

**Grounds Maintenance**
- Keeping the external grounds litter free, gardening duties and grass cutting on a regular basis
- Salting the grounds in the winter months
- Ensuring the grounds furniture is in a good state of repair

**Other Duties**
- Undertaking specific cleaning tasks as requested and keeping the busy bin rooms cleaned, organised and making sure the bins are ready for the refuse teams to collect.
- Have a concern for the general appearance of the property and grounds and use initiative to keep things in good working order
- Help and assist residents where appropriate.
- Carrying out regular Fire Safety checks where applicable
- Work with colleagues, commercial partners and customers and ensure you are always courteous and professional
- Work with the onsite Warden and the Leasehold Property Manager on additional relevant tasks and recording of work completed.

**About You**
- Experience of being a team player with a can-do attitude who takes pride in their work.
- You’re multi skilled with general maintenance skills, know a bit about general repairs, carpentry, and basic plumbing.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality, act professionally and work independently without continuous supervision.
- Comfortable working with people from all walks of life with excellent communication skills
- You will need to be caring and put our customers at the heart of everything you do.
- It would be amazing if you have been a handy person or caretaker in a previous job, but it’s not a deal breaker.

**Our team**

You’ll join Denise our Warden for the site, she has been with Home Group for over 14 years so will help you get to know all our lovely customers Denise is super passionate about what we do and a credit to Home Group and the scheme.

You’ll report into Laura our Leasehold Property Manager who brings a wealth of leasehold experience and ensures the customers are at the heart of everything we do.

**Working Hours**

We work daytimes Monday to Friday. Very occasionally there may be a need to be flexible to meet our customers’ needs by supporting outside of these hours, but we can also flex your work patterns to suit you.

The role is based at Mariners Point in Tynemouth, and you’ll spend your time predominantly onsite. You’ll also need an Enhanced DBS check done and Home Group will pay for that.
