**Qualified Sessional Counsellor**

**Hours: variable**
**Salary: £20.00 per hour (self-employed basis only)**

**Location: Nottingham city centre and online**

Base 51 counselling service delivers therapeutic interventions and counselling and support to young people aged 10-24 years old in the East Midlands, Nottingham city and Nottinghamshire.

**We have an exciting opportunity for a vibrant and enthusiastic counsellor to join our experienced team to **deliver counselling for young people experiencing crisis or mental health difficulties, as part of a wider multi-disciplinary service.

You will be required to carry out therapeutic assessments, one to one counselling, process review and outcome monitoring, case file administration. You will be self-employed but will also be an active member of the team, working alongside counselling and youth work professionals to support service growth and improve service provision.

Base 51 is committed to CPD and workforce development, all Counsellors will have access to ongoing training and development opportunities.

**Essential criteria**
- A recognised counselling/psychotherapy qualification (level 4 minimum)
- Registration with a recognised governing body such as BACP or equivalent
- Adept in creating and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people
- A good understanding of relevant issues affecting young people and knowledge of child development and attachment theory
- A flexible approach with the individual needs of services users as the priority
- An ability to work some evenings in accordance with client demand
- An ability to work independently and manage a caseload
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
- Experience in offering online counselling (if opting to work online)
- Registration with a recognised body such as BACP or equivalent
- Ability to set up as self-employed, and hold relevant insurances.

- Experience in delivering long term models of counselling
- Experience working with individuals in crisis
- Experience working with trauma
- Experience with safeguarding and working alongside multi-disciplinary teams to ensure young people receive the appropriate level of support and intervention
- Accreditation with a recognised body such as BACP or equivalent
