It is an exciting time to be joining the Mayoral Combined Authority. We have a wide variety of exciting projects that we are working on which will help shape the West Yorkshire region.

In 2021 the £1.8bn devolution deal was secured for West Yorkshire. This meant the first Mayor of West Yorkshire was subsequently elected, with Tracy Brabin taking up post in May 2021. The devolution deal and election of the Mayor has enabled us to start to drive up living standards for local communities while tackling the climate emergency and helping to deliver our commitment to become a net zero carbon city region by 2038.

**We are looking for an exceptional individual to join the Strategy Team within the Combined Authority.**

**The Role**

This is an exciting, fast paced and varied role, working on strategic and cross cutting policy and supporting the development of the Combined Authorities thinking on a wide range of topics. No two days are the same and this is a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills and learn about a wide variety of topics.

Reporting into the Head of Policy and Strategy Coordination your key responsibilities will include:

- Leading, owning and developing cross cutting policy and strategy proposals, working flexibly across all policy areas.
- Identifying and leading thinking to be at the forefront of changes with regional and national strategy, including developing detailed proposals for future devolution
- Embedding the West Yorkshire Plan to ensure we join up across our strategic objectives and deliver on our priorities.
- Working closely with internal colleagues, Local Authority partners and other relevant stakeholders to influence and shape their activities and gain their input to support the delivery of Combined Authority ambitions.
- Briefing the Mayor and other senior leaders on strategy issues.
- Shaping the region’s approach to public and private sector reform including shaping ideas for future devolution.
- Supporting the development and delivery of regional cross-cutting themes including EDI and Inclusive Growth.

**About You**

You will have the following skills, attributes, education and experience:

- Strong understanding and experience of policy and strategy development.
- Experience in using evidence to develop and drive strategic public policy and strategy.
- Experience and capability of working in partnership.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and experience of communicating complex information to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- A demonstrable commitment to Equality Diversity and Inclusion
