As a Specification and Artwork Technologist, your primary responsibility is to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of snack products. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to create accurate and comprehensive specifications for new and existing snack items. Additionally, you’ll oversee the artwork process, ensuring that packaging designs align with technical requirements and brand guidelines.

The role will be based centrally providing support for centrally lead packaging change activity, reporting to the Lead Packaging Development Manager. As a key member of the central technical team, the Packaging Artwork and specification Technologist will ensure effective day-to-day management of all artworks and specification related to EPD.

The Packaging artwork and specification technologist will identify opportunities, within specification and artwork process, for increasing efficiencies, reducing duplication and costs. The jobholder must be able to work to tight deadlines in a constantly changing and developing environment and been able to work on own initiatives.

The role will be the superuser for both the specification and artwork systems, providing guidance for issue that arise and train new started

Key accountabilities & deliverables

Specification Writing:

- Develop detailed packaging specifications, covering all aspects of material details
- Collaborate with R&D, procurement, and suppliers.
- Maintain our specification database.

Artwork Management:

- Work closely with design agencies and internal creative teams.
- Review packaging artwork drafts for accuracy and consistency.
- Coordinate artwork approvals with relevant stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Liaise with product development, marketing, and supply chain teams. - Participate in packaging development meetings, PPMs.
- Communicate changes in specifications or artwork.

Quality Assurance:

- Conduct regular audits of specifications and artwork files. Ensuring the specification are compliance with external and internal audit requirements
- Address any discrepancies promptly.

Project Management:

- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:
1 to 2 years previous Packaging experience within specification or artwork management, preferably with experience in a role within a FMCG environment.

Desirable:

- Experience with Direct liaison with Packaging suppliers.
- Experience managing complex product portfolios against tight project timelines

Qualifications Required:
Essential:

- Systems and software knowledge to include Microsoft packages.

Desirable:

- Working knowledge of siemens specification database
