The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is a statutory body consisting of the ten local authorities of Greater Manchester and a directly elected Mayor. It has wide-ranging policy development, regeneration and transport functions and an ambitious agenda to make Greater Manchester a better place in which to grow up, live, work and invest. In particular the organisation are responsible for commissioning Policing and Crime functions, and working with other statutory bodies to target crime, reduce reoffending and make Greater Manchester a safer place for all - see GM Standing Together Police and crime plan (greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk)

We are looking for an exceptional principal researcher keen to pursue a career with a dynamic, exciting and socially responsible employer. This is a senior role within the research team, taking responsibility for our police, crime, criminal justice and fire portfolio and a small team of analysts.

As part of this role you will provide programme management, shape and undertake research and insight, help shape and evaluate support services for victims of crime, and develop the evidence base in order to support policy and strategy.

**About you**:
You will have strong quantitative and qualitative research skills with a good understanding of a range of research methods as well as a solid understanding of the environmental challenges we face, and experience of previous research in this area.

This will be complemented by strong programme management capabilities and a desire to make a difference.

Through building relationships with key stakeholders in the system and use of good communication skills you will influence others to place good intelligence at the heart of decision making.

You will also have a passion for building analytical confidence and capability while simultaneously creating conditions for innovation and a culture of continual learning.
