**Objective of the role**:
Supervision of yard activities to ensure high Health & Safety standards, compliance with the Environmental Permit and that Red Industries procedures and Work Instructions are adhered to.

Main Duties:

- Ensue all pre-use FLT inspections have been completed for mobile plant used on shift reporting any faults to Management.
- Ensure site inspections including daily walk arounds and weekly inspections are completed.
- Safely operate a counterbalance FLT in line with the companies P.A.S.S policy and ensure all other operators follow policy.
- Direct incoming vehicles working to KPI of 1-hour tipping time.
- Weighing of individual items on pallet scales if they are priced by weight is conducted.
- Ensure separation and segregation of arriving waste to ensure all waste placed into storage bays are not leaking, are safe without the chance of collapse occurring and waste is compatible to be stored in storage bay in line with HSG 71 Chemical Warehousing: The Storage of Packaged Dangerous Substances and Environmental Permit with all labels for waste are visible.
- Ensure maximum storage capacity in storage bays is achieved by repalletizing material to allow it to be double stacked upon or for it be used as a top stack.
- Housekeeping activities including sweeping, litter picking, and drum crushing are completed during shift.
- Repacking of material from Chemsafe 800l containers to cut off IBCs where applicable to help in support in stock control of supply items is completed where possible.
- Ensure accompanying paperwork for incoming loads is appropriately completed and filed away in correctly.
- Support the Stock Control Team by identifying any material that may require booking out for disposal.
- Weigh outgoing waste where possible and a rebate is given by supplier to allow accurate accrual figures to be generated.
- Promote a positive Health and Safety driven environment - reporting near misses at a KPI of 1 per month and rectifying any potential concerns for Health and Safety readily.
- There may be instances where other operatives may require support in their roles in busy periods - as such there may be a requirement to support them in their duties. A reasonable request may be made by Site Management to do as such.

People Management:

- Lead, develop and strengthen the TEAM.
- Maximise the performance of individuals through thorough communication; motivation and development on a day to day basis, as well as coordinating regular performance reviews to enhance performance and set clear objectives for achievement.
- Manage performance and capability issues taking an informal consultative and coaching approach initially, referring to a formal process if no improvement has been made.
- Be an advocate of all Company policies, ensuring you are fully aware of your own responsibilities within key policies and communicating relevant policies to colleagues when requested.
- Champion the onboarding process when required, using RED material and information and working with the HR and Training team to ensure low staff turnover.
- Develop employees through on the job challenges / training, feedback and coaching, formal training courses.
- Maintain and keep up to date basic personnel and training records of each colleague on site

Generic Duties:

- Additional duties as requested by senior management in line with the capabilities of the role holder.
- Support and contribute to Red Industries Group overall objectives and aims, in line with the role holders experience, and competence.
- Support and contribute to all aspects of “good” safety and health, daily awareness of safety issues and well being awareness.
- Fully responsible for your own and others’ health and safety
- Ensure all incidents, observations and concerns are reported through an escalation process; solutions are identified and actions, in line with Company policy.
- Ensure ideas for the improvement of safety are listened to and acted upon, involving the Health and Safety representatives and HR Management if necessary.
- Ensure non RED employees (visitors, third parties and contractors) confirm to the Health and Safety Policy including using the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Raise a Corrective Action Report for any concern or improvement opportunity.
- Compliance with our reduction in pollution activities, where possible reducing usage, and reusing or recycling waste; and handling all chemicals as per COSHH sheets; complying with safety rules in relation to minor spills (eg. soak up and report to manager) and major spills (eg. immediately report to a manager)
