**WHAT TO EXPECT**

The Opportunity

As a Leader in JLR you are responsible for upholding adherence to working practises both within your area and at any company location. (I.e. mobile phones, bell to bell working etc.)

To provide Leadership and support to the work group including the delivery of the Integrated production system through the one team* mind-set.

Creates a culture where the safety, wellbeing and engagement of their team members comes first. Leads by example, enabling development, growth and performance creating an environment for great two way communication.

Is an escalation route for problems the work group cannot resolve and is an active member of the 'One Team' which is ultimately responsible for the performance of the area.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Your key accountabilities and responsibilities include:
**Leadership**:

- Leads and coaches their teams to achieve deployed objectives and targets in line with scorecard metrics.
- Drives business performance for the area through the use of Lean systems
- Demonstration of leadership behaviours and empowerment of others to proactively drive engagement and motivation across the team
- Sets and prioritises activity in line with agreed procedures using facts and data to support all decision making for the team and for themselves
- Responsible for managing resources in area to ensure delivery against production targets, and completion of all team tasks

**Team Safety**:_Keeping every individual safe at all times - Creating an environment where zero harm becomes inevitable. _
- Responsible for compliance to Health and Safety procedures in their area and demonstrates a safety first mind set.
- Prioritises safety within the workgroup.
- Role-models safety behaviours and ensures that these are adhered to within their area, and in any company location. Recognises/Challenges as appropriate.
- Leads actions to improve safety. Ensure safety, ergonomic and COSHH risk assessments are conducted and reviewed as required.

**Quality**: _Ensuring that every process is adhered to and participating in continuous improvement activities. _
- Responsible for all work instructions in the area, ensuring stable quality at source
- Promotes a ‘no faults forward, right first time’ ethos within the area
- Promotes a ‘continuous improvement’ mind-set through raising Kaizen ideas that will assure quality standards are achieved.
- Ensures customer feedback reaches the teams (I.e. WCPA, DQR etc.)

**Team Development**: _Takes the opportunity to invest in personal and peer development to support the business_
- Responsible for coaching and developing team members to ensure that they are able to do their job effectively
- Completes thorough and meaningful Competency Assessments for associates and Group Leaders, whilst identifying performance gaps and development opportunities. (development plans are in place and reviewed)
- Builds trust and respect is taking the time to listen to, understand, engage and support all team members

**Effective Communication**: _Engage in productive 2-way communication_
- Responsible for the regular creation and delivery of communications on workgroup/business performance
- Is present in the work area and acknowledges all work group members on a frequent and consistent basis.
- Recognise / Challenge fairly and constructively to positively influence behaviour and performance of the workgroup. Encourages others to do the same.

**Policy and Procedure**: _Everyone fulfilling their responsibilities in adherence with company procedure, to ensure fairness & the sustainable success of the business._
- Responsible for people related processes (whether it be escalation via HR direct or conducting HR Meetings at the appropriate level)
- Manage employee relations issues that arise within the area
- Responsible for time and attendance records for the area, including holiday requests (within capping levels)

**Organised Workplace**:_ _**_Maintains and improves a clean & organised workplace, which demonstrates respect for the environment, the facility and the people who work within it._
- Uses lean tools effectively (e.g Yamazumi) to reduce waste, unevenness and overburden for team members to improve overall efficiency (e.g. maximum utilisation, maximum value add)
- Proactively plans activities in readiness for any planned or unplanned downtime.
