An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and highly organised individual to join our team to help provide emotional and practical support to bereaved families at their time of need.

Applicants must have a recognised child health, education, or social care qualification and experience in working with parents, children and families, excellent communication skills and most importantly be passionate about providing a safe space for families.

**Job Purpose**

To provide support to children and young people bereaved of a parent/Guardian or sibling regardless of the cause of death. To work in a fun and creative way providing opportunities within a safe and trusting space to explore thoughts and feelings.

We are particularly interested in hearing from those who have experience of assessing the needs of families bereaved by suicide and other traumatic deaths and are comfortable and skilled in having difficult conversations with parents whilst maintaining a safe space.

***General Duties**
- To participate in the assessment and planning process.
- To support bereaved children through a range of fun based creative interventions, including group work, focused session’s and one to one support and activity days.
- To provide information for bereaved families about death and dying and support them to understand some of the overwhelming feelings they may experience.
- To provide support that encourages open communication within the family.
- To provide families with the opportunity to meet others with similar experiences in a safe environment.
- To assist in the continuing development of services to meet the needs of bereaved children and families.
- To attend relevant professional meetings and maintain effective relationships with referrers and other professionals.
- To assist with the monitoring/evaluation of OUAS programmes.
