**Job summary**:
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities is leading within Government on the response to the Grenfell Tower fire. Our focus is on supporting the Grenfell community to recover from the fire and building a lasting legacy. The Department has established the Grenfell Site Programme to manage the site, and support the independent Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission.

The Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission includes 2 co-chairs and 10 community representatives which includes bereaved, survivors and locals residents. The Community representatives represent and bring the views of the bereaved, survivors and North Kensington community to Commission decisions, to deliver a community consensus for a memorial.

**Job description**:

- Engaging with local community groups, faith leaders and individuals to discuss the scope of work you are undertaking and how they can be involved, being on hand to answer queries.
- Create and implement a programme to locate, understand and engage with community groups, individuals and organisations who have memorials and commemorative tribute items.
- Create a digital archival database of spontaneous memorials, including, description, materials, condition details of the item, and current location. This record will be used to inform the development of future memorialisation options
- Identify, agree and undertake the process for acquiring, cataloguing and preserving memorial materials, making copies (where appropriate or no copies exist)
- Determine condition and preservation issues and advise on storage of material for the future care.
- Make recommendations on ways that archives could be accessed by the community in the longer term.
- Plan and deliver information sharing sessions with local community groups/individuals/education on the archives.
- Consider ways that community stories that support the archives might be shared and preserved for the longer term - Advise on the collection of digital commemorative or memorial material, where appropriate.
- Work closely with an already formed group of conservation experts who are advising the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission.

**Person specification**:
**Essential**:

- Demonstrable ability to acquire, manage and maintain documents and other materials that have historical and cultural importance for individuals, communities, organisations and nations.
- Demonstrable experience in working closely with communities on archive creation, management and development.
- Experience dealing with GDPR and Personal Data for community archives
- Good communication skills and being able to engage with the diverse community, ensuring they understand the work that is taking place and why.
- Understand the sensitive nature of this work and the impact it will have on the community.
