This post will provide the successful applicant with the support and training required to successfully complete all aspects of the CESR process. It will be possible to provide specific 3-month secondments in both anaesthetics and intensive care medicine, with all other competencies achievable within the Emergency Department.

The Emergency Medicine Department has a proven track record of teaching and research.

2. The Specialty Registrars are encouraged to undertake research projects.
- Teaching
1. 1. Weekly protected teaching sessions for junior doctors are held on a Wednesday afternoon; teaching is provided by the Emergency Medicine Consultants, Specialty Registrars, Senior Clinical Fellows, Staff Doctors and invited speakers. Teaching is given on a formal and experiential basis to the Specialist Registrars. There is a comprehensive masterclass programme put on for middle-grade teaching, and teaching programmes also for international medical graduates. The Emergency Medicine Consultants regularly teach on a variety of topics throughout the Trust and are Life Support Course Instructors. The department undertakes clinical teaching of undergraduates from Manchester.
- Quality and Audit
There is an active clinical audit department in the hospital with quarterly Emergency Department audit meetings at which there is regular medical input. All SHOs undertake and present an audit in the department. There is a lead Consultant for departmental audit activities.
Involvement in quality improvement is essential to the CESR process and this will be encouraged. There is a full weekly teaching programme and CPD time is provided within the rota.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £38. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
