**Role Purpose**

We are looking for an experienced ESOL trainer to join our team, this role will promote and facilitate sessions across Manchester and Salford. Fostering a positive learning environment were students feel comfortable to achieve their learning goals.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys teaching English language weather Written and verbal. Someone who has the compassion to help others, and commitment to use their skills, to support and create opportunity for those who are vulnerable within greater Manchester.

This role will represent the values of the charity both internally and externally, leading by example and contributing to the overall development of the service.

**Role description**
- Build and maintain relationships with external statutory and 3rd sector agencies to encourage referrals and signposting.
- Manage referrals and pathways into ESOL training and Caritas.
- Establish pathways through Mustard Tree into education, and training.
- Signpost clients onto appropriate agencies, create profile of key contacts and support learners’ volunteers.
- Understand/contribute to safeguarding and risk management using incident and safeguarding forms, incident tracker, attending annual training and escalating concerns to the management.
- Attend training, research, and keep up to date with relevant legislation and local provision of statutory services
- Responsible to for recording and assessment of progression planning and dropout rate.
- Working with Training manager to ensure ESOL is available across Salford and Manchester.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages learner to achieve their learning goals.
- Maintaining a safe learning environment for learner free from hazards and injury
- Facilitate ESOL sessions across Manchester and Salford supported by volunteer facilitators, develop paths ways into accredited qualifications.
- Work with Volunteer and CSR Manager to ensure weekly rota of volunteer facilitators to support all sessions.
- Prepare course materials and lesson plans that cover all aspects of the English language, whether written or verbal.
- Design process for recording leaner progression/learning journey.
- Refer learners in need of support for mustard tree services and external organisations
- Updating and monitor student records and attendance work with reception team and Tree salt program.
- Research new teaching method for teaching English as a second language, keep charity up to date and relevant.
- Submit monthly KPI’s report training manager and work to yearly objectives.
- Manage ESOL enquiries, waiting lists and assessments.
- Security aware, working with the Host to manage and identify any potential disturbances before they happen and maintain a calm, courteous and professional manner.
- Ensuring that all relevant paperwork is stored according to GDPR guidelines.
Attend briefing & debrief available each day to maintain good communication and support healthy staff wellbeing. Escalate safeguarding and incident concerns as required to head of services.
- To understand and have a working knowledge of health and safety requirements of the support services including risk assessments, lone working policy, staff wellbeing and incident management.

**General Work duties**:

- Support Freedom Volunteers to develop skills and behaviours and feel part of the community
- Work within health & safety guidelines and Mustard Tree policies and procedures
- Supporting other staff and departments and provide practical relief cover for work-streams
- Take responsibility for professional development, attending training courses as required
- Leading by example, embodying Mustard Tree values and represent the charity as required
- Contribute towards being an environmentally responsible organisation as part of day to day activities including recycling and supporting ‘paper-lite’ practices
- Other tasks and duties relevant to the role as required by the organisation

**What we are looking for**: **Person Specification**

**Essential**
- Customer focused with strong communication skills
- Over 5 years’ experience.
- Experience of working with volunteer and training others
- Working knowledge of health and safety, reporting incidents and risk
- Time management and organisational skills
- Ability to build relationships, and represent the organisation positively including looking smart, clean, and tidy
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team
- Degree in English and ESL or TESOL certificate
- Experience, commitment and compassion for working with people who are homeless or in risk of homelessness
- Calm and resilience personality, passionate about education
**Desirable**
- IT literacy including Microsoft word and good administration skills
- Flexible and can-do attitude, self-motivated and enthusiastic approach
