**About the role**

The Museum has been awarded a substantial government investment of £201m to build a new science and digitisation centre of approximately 25,000 sq m floor area at the Thames Valley Science Park (TVSP), as part of a strategic partnership with the University of Reading. This is a once in a century opportunity to be responsible for delivering a unique building for a globally renowned organisation.

The centre will include a large collections store alongside new specialist laboratories and workspace for around 100 people. As part of this development, the Museum is planning to move 28 million specimens into the new centre - from genetic material to whales. To unlock the scientific value of these collections the new centre will be equipped with molecular biology, and imaging and analysis laboratories, and a great space to work for over 100 Museum science staff. The building will meet high standards in terms of sustainability and the Museum will be an anchor tenant in the next phase of extension of the new site. The programme also includes significant upgrades to vacated collections spaces at our existing sites.

Reporting to the Project Manager (Collections & Storage) and working within the Build Project Team, we are looking for someone to achieve the museum’s storage improvement goals. The post holder will undertake detailed design work to ensure the layouts of the collections spaces for the entire NHM Unlocked programme reflect best practice and fit the museums operational model. They will also help with mapping the collections to enable our ambitious moves project to run smoothly.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Reports to Project Manager (Collections & Storage) and work closely with the internal Design and project teams
- Produce high level layout of collection spaces including changes to storage types

working closely with our Information Management Team to test scenarios for collections footprint
- Mapping of collections working with Collections Storage Manager and IMT Senior

Business Analyst to deliver ‘track and trace’ system for collections
- Creating technical drawing packages for projects using AutoCAD & Revit.
- Undertake detailed, shelf-level mapping for oversize collections
- Work closely with external design team to ensure storage design is compatible with

emerging building design.
- Assisting Project Manager (Storage & Collections) in working with suppliers and
- NHM collections teams to ensure optimum storage furniture design
- Assist with onsite planning for moves including identification of swing space, planning for layout changes or storage reconfiguration during moves
- Other relevant duties within the NHM Unlocked programme as required

**About you**
- Degree or Professional level education within Architecture, Engineering, Construction
- Management or equivalent relevant experience
- Demonstrable operational planning, administration experience with excellent organisational and project management skills
- Proficient in Revit, autoCAD/3D autoCAD or a similar program to produce 2D construction drawings and 3D modelling
- Previous experience working in a construction or technical design role.
- Solid knowledge of relevant statutory UK/EU legislation, policies and procedures applicable to construction projects
- Proven problem-solving analytical skills with an ability to embrace change enthusiastically
- Experience in or understanding of space planning ideally with reference to warehouse design or similar
- Experience of managing and prioritizing a high workload and complex tasks in a changing env
