About the Team

Ofcom’s Commercial Team provides valued and effective commercial and procurement support to the organisation. The team has significant commercial influence and plays a key role in ensuring that Ofcom continues to operate efficiently and delivers value for money.

As a statutory corporation, Ofcom is bound by public contract regulations and adherence to these regulations and guidelines is essential. Whilst Ofcom has its own procurement policies and processes the Commercial Team also works collaboratively with other public bodies and organisations where there are benefits in doing so.

The Commercial Team operates as part of the Finance Team, led by the Finance Director. The Finance Team is part of the wider Corporate Group overseen by the Corporate Group Director.

Purpose of the Role

The Procurement Associate, reporting to the Head of Commercial, will play a pivotal role within the Commercial Team. Their responsibilities will include providing administrative support, assisting stakeholders undertake low-value procurements, and ensuring compliance with Public Contract Regulations. As a key member of the team, the Procurement Associate will contribute to achieving the team’s overall objectives of ensuring value for money, high levels of compliance and delivering an excellent service to our stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities- Provide administrative support to the Head of Commercial and Commercial Team- Undertake administrative tasks relating to public procurement and contracting, including publishing notices, taking moderation meeting minutes, and drafting letters and reports- Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to undertake low value procurements. Key to this will be advising colleagues of the necessary processes and procedures and ensuring compliance while maintaining a helpful and pragmatic approach.- Liaise with tenderers and suppliers as needed- Assist with the coordination of reporting and data related tasks- Undertake additional tasks as required

The skills, knowledge and experience you will need for success

Essential- Highly proficient in delivering administrative tasks to a high standard- Highly proficient using Microsoft Office including Word and Excel- Strong written skills- Good numeracy and accuracy skills with an eye for detail- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload with good time management, using own judgement in taking the initiative and balancing conflicting priorities to meet deadlines-
- A proactive ‘can do’ problem solving attitude- Strong interpersonal and team working skills- Ability to communicate technical / professional information clearly to a range of audiences- Ability to handle objections and questions professionally, providing robust and rational responses

Desirable- Experience of working within public sector procurement or a keen interest to learn- Experience using BravoSolution/Jaggaer etendering tool- Experience using Workday finance system
