Tug Master/skipper

**TUG MASTER**

A&P Falmouth are looking to recruit a motivated and hardworking individual for the position of **Tug Master** based at Falmouth Docks and operating within the Falmouth Pilotage Area as well as also undertaking Coastal tow’s, this position will support the marine and port operations of Falmouth. Working as part of a team offering coverage 24/7 as required.

Key Responsibilities:
The Tug Master has the following authority and responsibilities:

- Authority over all those on board.
- Responsible for safe navigation in the broadest sense of the word and ensuring that the crews are ready at all times to carry out on board duties as necessary.
- The overriding authority and responsibility to make decisions about carrying out those actions they deem necessary in order to contribute to the interests of those on board, the tug, safety, health and environment, and to prevent pollution and to request the Company’s assistance.
- Ensure that legislative and regulatory measures and the operation of the management systems are applied and enforced.
- Responsible for management of all ships certificates, carrying out the ship’s administration and providing the Marine Operations manager with status report.
- To lead, instruct and motivate the crew in a clear and concise manner.

Other Duties include (but not limited to):

- Maintaining tugs charts and publications
- Training in the Port Marine Safety Code compliance
- Training with the Marine Operations manager in Mooring & Docking of vessels
- Counter Pollution
- Partnerships with other ports and stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

- STCW Master 500grt or higher
- All STCW short courses including all recent amendments
- Valid ENG1 medical

Desirable Skills:

- Commercial marine experience & knowledge of Ports Sector
- Experience of harbour/ at Sea Towage preferred although full training will be given
- Knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code, vessel operations, counter pollution
- I.T. literate

Flexibility and working of anti-social hours is essential to meet customer and operational requirements. This position may be of interest former sea-going personnel (i.e. Masters/Chief Officers) looking for a shore-based position.
