- About Us: Our vision is simple - to ensure that all of our students achieve beyond our expectations and flourish as confident learners with the highest aspirations, ready for a bright and successful future and ready for the world in which they will work and live. We are relentless in our pursuit of the very best for all our students. We understand challenges but do not accept them as limitations. We understand the critical role we play in the lives of our students, their families and our community. We take our responsibility very seriously and thrive on the challenge to be the best school in the borough. Welling School is proud to be an all ability, co-educational 11-18 school, located in the London borough of Bexley. As well as serving our local community we welcome students from a diverse range of backgrounds and areas. Each of them bringing their own part to make up the school Community.

The Role: As part of our focus on raising standards and embedding excellence we are excited to be looking to appoint a talented colleague to the role of Lead Practitioner. The role will focus on ensuring our ongoing drive for excellent teaching, learning and attainment in Maths but will also form part of a team of specialist colleagues who work across the school on our approach to truly inspiring and cutting edge teaching. There is also the opportunity for our new colleague to lead the school’s highly successful ECT/ITT training and assessment programme. You will have a keen interest in current pedagogical thinking and be excited at the prospect of working with colleagues in the faculty and across the school to drive the continuous improvement of teaching and learning that impacts on our students' learning and progress to mean they achieve outstanding outcomes - beyond expectation. This exciting role will be varied and will involve working with individuals as well as groups of staff to realise their professional goals, leading the induction of staff new to the profession and training to teach, coaching, supporting Heads of Faculty with their improvement priorities as well as assisting in the delivery of a high impact staff development strategy so that our dedicated people have ongoing access to the very best opportunities to do a brilliant job for our students. There will also be the chance to lead intervention strategies with our students to help them achieve their individual excellence. The length of your previous experience as an excellent classroom practitioner is less important to us than your clear vision on what can be achieved for our students, your understanding of high standards and your ability to motivate and inspire. Our successful colleague will have an unstinting belief that every young person, whatever their starting point or circumstances, can make and sustain exceptional progress and that our purpose is to change lives.
As well as having a passion for young people and their futures our colleague will:

- be a dynamic professional with a desire for rapidly improving standards
- have the ability to plan and devise creative opportunities with colleagues to unlock their potential
- have excellent emotional intelligence and know how to work with other professionals to inspire them
- have experience of working with others to improve classroom practice
- bring an unwavering commitment to doing whatever it takes
- understand how to support colleagues with a range of experience and help them to always be brilliant teachers.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on an ambitious role aimed at making a real impact on the professional lives of our people and the outcomes for our students.
Contact Information and How to Apply: Informal discussions with the Executive Headteacher and/or visits are actively encouraged.
