Applications are invited from experienced clinicians who have a broad range of clinical skills for the above post based within MSK Physiotherapy service in University Hospital Ayr and University Hospital Crosshouse, Ayrshire & Arran. You will be a highly skilled practitioner with extensive clinical experience, working alongside the MSK and Rheumatology multi-disciplinary team, providing direct clinical care which encompasses expert physiotherapy assessment and treatment of patients with a range of MSK/ Rheumatology conditions. You will provide highly specialist advice and skills to aid diagnosis and management of patients with complex rheumatology and long term conditions.

You will be required to attend Rheumatology clinics at various sites including University Ayr and Crosshouse Hospitals. You will have appropriate postgraduate training to Masters Level relevant to the speciality of MSK/ Rheumatology. An essential criteria for this post is to have achieved a Diploma in injection therapy or to be working towards this qualification.

You will have proven experience of promoting and enabling supported self-management, experience of using Motivational Interviewing and goal setting to enable people to reach their potential, ensuring that this service continues to be person centred, effective and evidence based. You will initiate, coordinate and participate in the case management of patients with multiple complex pathologies.

The role will require advanced physiotherapy assessment skills, including consideration of further investigations and supporting the escalation process to the Complex Case Clinic (CCC), and Rheumatology Consultants. This will also involves triage of referrals independently within the rheumatology and MSK service and to make onward referrals and to appropriately discharge patients directly from Rheumatology Physiotherapy Service enhancing community and third sector involvement for long term condition management as appropriate.

In your capacity as the Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner within Rheumatology you will lead Rheumatology training and provide clinical support to peers, providing an expert resource to other healthcare staff / patients / carers.

Experience of service improvement and a willingness to learn and develop are essential for this role. You will lead clinical audits, participate in local & national research projects and participate in Clinical Governance activities associated with the Rheumatology Service. This role will have a lead in the development of the physiotherapy rheumatology service and a key contributor to the development of the advanced practice physiotherapy role within the specialist multi-disciplinary rheumatology service and MSK Services.

It is essential that you possess a Diploma/BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy and are HCPC registered. You must have permission to work in the UK.

Full driving license an car owner is essential.
