**Salary**:£21,062 prorated up to £22,466.88 for 40 hours

**Hours**:Full Time, 40 hrs/week (Rolling Shift Pattern - 4 on / 4 off) 8.00pm - 8.00am

**Job purpose**:
Night Porters are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for our residents. They are responsible for coordinating support for residents throughout the night, being aware of each resident’s needs and circumstances and responding to any emergencies that may arise in a calm and timely manner.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

**Safety/Support**
- To work alongside another member of YMCA Staff (Hostel) or a member of concierge (Nomad) to maintain the security of the service throughout the shift.
- To report any defects in line with procedures, checking all floors regularly through the night to ensure that service users are safe. To complete building check records accordingly.
- To deal with the immediate support needs of clients as appropriate, providing crisis intervention where necessary, following up with relevant paperwork.
- To carry out lock ups, including checking emergency lighting and listening out for undue noises.
- To a maintenance form and record on Inform (database/ management system).
- To carry out room checks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents.
- Provide a welcoming, accessible reception service for clients and other callers. As part of this covering a range of reception tasks, including dealing with phones, all other reception enquiries.
- To support colleagues in diffusing difficult or dangerous situations and to summon outside assistance when necessary.
- To ensure residents adhere to curfew times, where appropriate.
- To challenge disruptive or unacceptable behaviour in a sympathetic and assertive way, balancing the needs of the individual with responsibilities for the safety of the service, being prepared to evict residents if necessary.
- To issue behaviour warnings in line with YMCA Lincolnshire’s policy.
- To assess factors which could impact on the safety of clients or others, and deliver relevant support where possible.
- To ensure that any clients using the smoking area are doing so in a safe way and that it is checked regularly during the night.
- To be responsible for First Aid, Health and Safety within the Centre whilst on duty and report any problems to the Hostel/Nomad Manager.
- To observe the requirements of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Mental Health Act 1983.
- To comply with the GDPR 2018/Data Protection Act 1984, Access to Medical Records Act 1990 and the Human Rights Act 1998.

**Administrative**
- To undertake a range of procedural and administrative tasks relating to service users and health and safety, in line with YMCA Lincolnshire’s policies and procedures, and in compliance with legal requirements.
- To keep an accurate record of each shift and report any concerns regarding the service users to a Resident Advisor or Duty Officer during handover.
- To update client database with all relevant information.
- To keep accurate daily records of petty cash, service charges and other monies when necessary.

**General**
- To ensure general tidiness of the service, e.g. ensuring all spills are cleaned up, maintaining drinks dispensers, collecting litter, putting the dishwasher on, emptying bins.
- To ensure adherence to YMCA Lincolnshire Policies and Procedures and organisational values.
- To attend shift handover meetings, weekly Team Meetings, team review days, relevant training and other meetings as agreed with the Hostel/Nomad Manager.
- To cover for other members of the team and Housing division as necessary.
- Undertaking, as required, any other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by more senior members of staff.
- To work on a shift rota in line with local and YMCA working practice.
