An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established Student Services Department, in the Careers and Work Experience Team. The role of the **Senior Careers Advisor** is to provide outstanding support to students by delivering up-to-date and high-quality careers information, advice and guidance.

The post holder will arrange and deliver individual careers guidance interviews to ensure students are aware of their progression routes into higher education, employability and apprenticeships. They will deliver outstanding sector specific careers workshops, events and activities to prepare students for their next steps.

The **Senior Careers Advisor** will contribute to careers drop-in sessions, support with careers inbox inquiries, support students with the UCAS process and contribute to careers communications to students and parents/carers.

This role will help develop ongoing processes and procedures related to the CEIAG Policy. The **Senior Careers Advisor** will help deliver components of the HE careers programme, working closely with the careers leader to deliver an exceptional student experience. The **Senior Careers Advisor** will also be responsible for supporting and mentoring careers advisors and apprentices within the team.

Ongoing mentoring by an experienced manager as well as opportunities to develop your career through our Learning & Development team.

Responsibilities include:

- Support and develop the implementation of the FE and HE careers programme
- Work with the careers and work experience team leader to take an active lead on the coordination and delivery of the HE careers provision
- Actively engage in business development to support our HE students with graduate employability
- Mentor and support the trainee careers advisers with their L6 careers guidance qualification
- Coordinate and deliver annual careers and work experience expo
- Attend networking events with local, regional and national HE providers and employers
- Work in partnership with all stakeholders, internal and external, to lead on service evaluation and quality improvement
- Deliver careers information, advice and guidance in person, on MS Teams and over the telephone
- Support clients to access relevant work, study and training opportunities.
- Help clients to develop individual action plans where appropriate.
- Develop careers and employability resources for use of curriculum and support staff in workshops and for students to use in a self-directed study through Moodle

Education & Training
- A level 6 or higher Careers Guidance qualification
- GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A - C).
- GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in English or equivalent. (e.g. CSE 1, O Level A - C).

Experience
- Knowledge and experience of CEIAG delivery in an Education setting
- A strong understanding of the careers and employability agenda in relation to Further Education
- Demonstrable experience of delivery of group workshops
- Experience of developing careers and employability curriculum resources.
- Evidence of supporting clients to achieve successful outcomes.
- Knowledge of the local, regional and national labour markets
- Strong communication skills including the ability to effectively liaise and network with internal and external partners e.g. employers.
- Ability to plan and prioritise and effectively manage and organise own work load.
- Ability to relate with sensitivity to clients facing a wide variety of personal and social barriers to progression and experience of enabling them to overcome these.
