Purpose of Job
To deliver a person centred housing support service to 13 service users who are experiencing homelessness or are care leavers ages 16-25 primarily based in a residential setting. This support will primarily be delivered on a night time basis. To provide a high quality support service which addresses service users identified and assessed needs and reflects the aims and objectives of the service. Work within relevant organisational and statuary policies including health and safety, employment and equality laws. This includes adhering to the SSSC Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers, SCWIS Care Inspectorate standards and contractual requirements. The post holder will develop and write support plans for service users and support Wellbeing Workers to deliver an individually tailored service utilising service users support plans.

To support the delivery of a coordinated and person centred housing support service.
The role will require a degree of lone working delivering support and assistance to service users within a residential setting.
Working collaboratively with others to implement best practice in delivery of a full range of services.
Major Tasks & Job Activities
Service Provision
- Wellbeing Workers (Nights) core hours are 10pm to 8am, 7 days a week on a rolling rota basis but may need to work out with or additional hours in the event of an incident, when required by the on call procedure or in event of the project being short staffed.
- Wellbeing Workers (Nights) will have specific key worker and co-keyworker responsibility within the residential unit and to Fire station tenants, and overall responsibility for 53 service users of both services when working.
- Complete and update all relevant paperwork including Support Plans, risk assessments, reviews, and case notes for designated Service Users complying with NCS and SSSC to ensure person centred service delivery and to meet service aims and Association business plan.
- Inform line management of any areas of concern or significant change when delivering Service Users support to ensure appropriate risk assessment is undertaken.
- To establish a supportive relationship with each service user, enabling them to maximise their own resources in order to improve their quality of life.
- To assist service users to be as independent as possible in all aspects of their daily life in line with their support plan.
- The post holder will on a daily basis assist and support service users to carry out identified housing support tasks to ensure that they maintain place and gain independent living skills.
- Contribute to an effective and efficient housing support service and to assist the people we support to lead active and fulfilling lives.
- The post holder will be flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of service users as well as the housing support service itself.
- You will be asked to support and cover Fire station service when required. Both Youth Homelessness services will work in partnership and work together which will include covering each other’s roles as required.
- Wellbeing Workers need to problem solve unexpected and difficult issues that may arise during shift and deal with challenging behaviour. Wellbeing Workers often lone work and need to use their own initiative in order to support service user’s complex issues and make decisions based on current assessments of risk. Staff should follow set risk assessments, protocols and procedures.
- Support young people with a variety of complex needs including mental health, self harm, addictions and aggressive behaviour,
- Responsibility to support line manager in the development of services and implementation of improvements following advice from regulatory bodies.
- Post holder will resolve complex service user issues, involving discussion with colleagues and relevant agencies through reviews and meetings ensuring correct procedures are followed.
- Risk assess service users’ needs and actions and consult with appropriate people such as line manager, Health and Safety Manager, Social Work Department and service user.
- Support service users to maximise income and overcome barriers maximising opportunities and realise their potential.
- Regularly complete building checks and dealing with any issues that arise from this. Complete health and safety tasks in regard to environment and equipment.
- Financial responsibility in terms of handling weekly rent money passed by service users and petty cash when required.
- Response for own health and safety requirements within all aspects of the job.
- Representing service positively in the local community and liasing with local neighbours on a regular basis.
