**Location**: Community based worker in West Northumberland with some home working elements.

**Contract**:Fixed Term Contract for 18 Months.

This is an exciting opportunity to join us at the Alzheimer’s Society as an apprentice Dementia Adviser. You will be able to gain a qualification as you work with us to support people with a diagnosis of dementia and their carers. You will be working towards an Early Intervention Practitioner qualification at Level 4 with 6 hrs of off the job training each week provided by our training provider partner organisation.

You must be able to to meet the general requirements of an apprenticeship:

- Be aged 18+ at the time of enrolment.
- Not already be in full-time education at the point of enrolment.
- Be a UK or European Economic Area (EEA) citizen, or have lived in the UK or EEA for the past three consecutive years.
Not hold a qualification at the same level or above in the chosen apprenticeship area.

As a Dementia Adviser, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support, information, and guidance to people with dementia and their carers who live in the west of Northumberland, including rural; areas to the north and south of the Tyne valley. You will be helping them to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives.

**About you**

You will have:

- A passion to help people and support them to improve their quality of life and put people affected by dementia at the heart of everything you do.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Good IT skills and the ability to maintain records and write reports.
- Good non-judgemental communication skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships with external providers and other organisations.
- The ability to understand the need for client confidentiality.
- A desire to learn develop your skills and progress your career within health and social care.
- An ability to travel independently across Northumberland.
