The post holder will undertake a supportive multifaceted role encompassing designated clinical responsibilities, technical procedures and housekeeping duties. They will be required to work collaboratively and co-operatively with all multidisciplinary colleagues and the wider team. They will be required to carry out their designated tasks within agreed parameters and will report any issues/concerns to the nurse in charge.

The post holder is expected to comply with BCUHB Infection Control Policies and conduct him/herself at all times in such a manner as to minimise the risk of healthcare associated infection.

To share and receive routine information with the ward team, cleaning, catering and other support staff as required regarding the patient’s day, ensuring that work is planned in the most appropriate way to provide a high quality patient focused service.

Will advise and influence ward expenditure to improve the patient environment.

To assist the Clinical Team to deliver evidence based care to patients working in partnership with the multi disciplinary team, the patient their family and carers.

Maintain all aspects cleanliness within the department at all times.

To ensure that all medical equipment is clean serviceable and ready for use.

Assist the registered nurse in the delivery of patient care as documented in the nursing care plan. Carry out a wide range of extended HCSW duties and work unsupervised for periods of their shift.
