**Medical Secretary - Part time**
**AIM**
The aim of the Secretary is to work with the rest of the Practice team to provide a friendly and effective service for the patients.
**RESPONSIBLE TO**
Practice Manager
**MAIN DUTIES**
The post holder will be expected to be meticulous in the execution of their duties. They are to be fully conversant with the details contained in their Contract of Employment, the Practice Handbook and the Practice Procedure Manuals. However, they are to seek assistance when dealing with new or unexpected matters.
**Main Duties**
Audio and copy typing of GP referrals to relevant hospitals and organisations using our digital dictation system.
- Electronic patient referrals as part of Welsh Clinical Communications Gateway secure online system.
- Providing the link between patients and GP’s (including chasing results, reports, appointment dates) and arranging scanning of notes when necessary.
- Intermediary between patients/GP’s/Hospital/other organisations
- Extracting templates, merging information with patient information using clinical database.
- Logging relevant information onto the clinical system (INPS Vision currently but moving to EMIS Web)
- Ordering and maintaining stationary.

To work towards the aim and objectives of the Practice at all times.
- To attend and contribute to meetings for the Practice staff.
- To take part in training programmes as appropriate.
**Relating to Confidentiality**
To take due care to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- To be aware of the limitations placed upon the Practice by the GDPR and Data Protection Act 1998.
- To ensure confidentiality of information in matters relating to the Practice.
**Relating to Health and Safety and Security**
To have read and be aware of the Health and Safety section in the Practice Handbook.
- To report any risks to health and safety.
- To be aware at all times of the need for a high level of personal and physical security and to comply with the details contained in the Practice Procedures.
**Essential & Interpersonal Skills**
The post holder should also possess the following skills:
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Understanding and exercise confidentiality and discretion at all times.
- Interpretation skills.
- Be able to work under own initiative.
- Patience.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Excellent computer skills.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £11.44-£12.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
