**Salary**: Salary in the region of £38,000 per annum.

The Role

The Communications Officer will develop and deliver a strategy to communicate and effectively promote NUIT services across the University, whilst also providing specialist advice, support and quality assurance services to colleagues within NUIT to ensure a consistent, cohesive and high-quality communications offer.

Key Accountabilities
Own, develop and implement the IT Service communications strategy to support the delivery of the departmental plan. Ensure that all communications focus on the needs of our stakeholders, adhere to best practice and promote the University’s Vision
Create and disseminate standards relating to information delivery such as documentation templates, house writing style, usability and accessibility standards. Ensure consistency and compliance with the University brand and style guidelines
Manage, through editorial oversight and coordination of publication, the creation of departmental communication materials. For example, annual reports, presentations, web content, social media, and marketing materials that communicate the department’s activities or services
Manage the core departmental communications channels, (websites, knowledgebase, social media, etc.) including information architecture, content planning and design. Work across multiple teams to co-ordinate activities and ensure channels are fit for purpose, up-to-date and relevant
Build and maintain a strong network of content providers for service documentation. Provide professional expertise in the architecture, management and quality assurance of IT service-related knowledge along with practical support to ensure resources are created, reviewed and promoted effectively
Drive initiatives to ensure the needs of all customer groups are more widely understood. Create, facilitate and support feedback mechanisms and monitoring processes to inform the provision of co-ordinated services and support
Select and implement appropriate methods and metrics for evaluating communications activities, analysing the results to inform future strategy

The Person
An exceptional standard of written English
Experience of writing technical and non-technical content
An understanding of accessibility issues and requirements
Knowledge of the techniques required for effective presentation of information in a variety of digital channels
Experience of providing tailored information to a diverse range of customer groups
Experience of producing design briefs
Knowledge of information architecture principles and experience of structuring online content
