Job description
- 35 hours per week with paid overtime x1.5 per hour or x2 per hour on Sundays.
- 27 Days paid annual leave, plus Bank Holidays, plus additional college closure days over the Christmas period.
- Permanent contract.
- The key responsibilities of the role include:

- The supervision of hospitality and agency staff
- The delivery of consistent high quality hospitality service
- Ensuring all services are deliver on time
- Ensuring that all orders are produced and presented to agreed standards
- Placing orders for hospitality food and drink in line with purchasing guidelines and monitoring receipt and storage of deliveries.
- Preparation, including regen of food, delivery, layout, servicing and cleaning of events
- Ensuring that the correct procedures are followed when handling cash and card payments
- Acting as a key holder.

The contract is offered on a 5 out of 7 days basis and will involve working evenings and weekends.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract

This is a full-time post

Key responsibilities
- Working under the direction of the Hospitality Manager/ Head of Hospitality manage and provide the delivered services catering offer across the Strand Campus ensuring that all orders are produced and presented to agreed standards and delivered as requested.
- Attend as required functions and events requiring catering and hospitality. Oversee and co-ordinate the work of other catering assistants and agency staff.
- Place orders for hospitality food and beverages in line with purchasing guidelines and monitor receipt and storage of deliveries.
- Organise staff rotas.
- Preparation, including heating and regen of food and delivery, lay out, servicing and clearing of refreshments, lunches, and dinners.
- Manage the production of King’s bottled water supplies.
- Manage on a day-to-day basis catering assistants and agency staff ensuring that service standards are always maintained.
- Ensure that on evening and weekend events closing up procedures are followed by staff.
- Act as a key holder.
- Ensure correct financial procedures are followed when handling cash at events for cash bars etc
- Training of catering and hospitality assistants in trolley set up, deliveries, use of equipment for heating/regeneration of food, beverage preparation and dishwashing
- Liaise with the kitchen team regarding food service at events
- Communicate in a professional manner with customers during events to ensure their needs are met.
- Co-ordinate and brief other catering and agency staff on requirements for each event and assist them in delivering a high quality, professional service.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors in relation to orders/services.
- Attend Departmental staff meetings as and when required
- Ensure that daily delivered services bookings are organised, planned and delivered accurately and on time ensuring that appropriate staffing levels have been arranged to facilitate this and directing the work of catering assistants carrying out deliveries.
- Respond to and manage any customer requirements during deliveries and events, escalating to an appropriate member of the events team where necessary.
- Respond to any requests for information from the events or King’s food team to enable customer comments and complaints to be dealt with accurately and in a timely fashion. Implementing any actions required as a result.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria

1. Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent

2. NVQ level 1 or equivalent catering qualification

3. Good written and oral communication skills

4. To be numerate

6. Preparation and service of food and beverages

7. Knowledge and understanding of all relevant Health, Safety and Hygiene legislation

8. Organised and methodical with good attention to detail

9. Experience of working in a high-volume catering environment

10. Experience of delivering hospitality and events catering to premium levels

11. Experience of managing and directing the work of others

12. Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings in line with business requirements

Desirable Criteria

1. Hold a current Food Handlers certificate

2. Experience of placing orders and managing deliveries

3. Experience of drawing up rotas and managing staff breaks
