**Westcountry Case Management - Maximising potential for over 20 years**
We are looking to recruit a patient, warm, caring and reliable Support Worker with a full clean driving licence and car for our client. You will be supporting a sociable, happy young child with a learning disability and Cerebral palsy who lives with her mum in the Canton area of Cardiff and enjoys socialising, playing in her therapy playroom, accessing her iPad and going for walks around the local area.
You will provide high quality support with social and leisure opportunities, spending quality time supporting our client with engagement in lots of different fun activities including swimming, dancing, and gymnastics.
Responsibilities will also include implementing therapies prescribed by the Multi-disciplinary Team; full training will be provided for this. Our team consists of an occupational therapist, speech and language therapist, physiotherapist, and paediatric neuropsychologist.
**You must be registered with OR working towards registration with Social Care Wales.**
**What you will be working**:
- Tuesday 4pm - 8pm
- Wednesday 4pm - 8pm
- Saturday Midday - 4pm
- 4 additional hours to be worked flexibly to suit client and support worker
**Salary**:
- £14.00 per hour weekdays
- £16.00 per hour weekends
- 45p per mile when using own car to transport client
**What you will be doing**:
- Assist the client to exercise choice and control over their own lives as far as they are able in everyday matters but taking into consideration cognitive problems
- Liaise with and support the family as required
- Assist the client to ensure an adequate level of hygiene is maintained
- Supporting the client to use local amenities such as shops and leisure facilities and attend community events
- Follow the service user plan as documented for the client
- Maintain accurate and confidential records
- Participate in manual handling procedures as specified for the client
- Maintain professional boundaries with the client and their family members, adhering to direction from the case manager as appropriate
**What you will have**:
- Full driving licence and own car are essential
- Ability to treat people with respect and dignity, in a non-judgemental, respectful and caring way, acknowledging their individuality
- Previous experience working with children, ideally supporting clients with cerebral palsy and an understanding of special educational needs
- An NVQ / QCF Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- A genuine interest in providing the best person centre care possible
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and develop
- Registered with OR working towards registration with Social Care Wales.
