We have an opportunity for an experienced and skilled Assurance Lead to join our Nuclear Decommissioning team.

As an Assurance Lead you’ll guide, own and undertake independent assurance activities across a range of areas within Nuclear Decommissioning to help deliver the agreed annual assurance plan.

You’ll propose, review & assess a broad variety of topics and will influence and agree value adding actions with varying levels of stakeholders across the Business from Heads of, ND & Station Directors, Programme & Project Managers and Station colleagues to ensure relevant improvements to performance and quality are agreed and successfully implemented through to completion.

**Pay, Benefits and Culture**

We can offer a competitive salary from £53,941 - £84,892 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

**What you’ll be doing**

You’ll work with the Assurance Manager to create and deliver the assurance plan for all decommissioning activities, your day to day tasks will include:

- Undertaking audits, surveillances & reviews across a wide range of topic areas within ND, such as Programmes, Projects, submissions, internal processes, contracts, station activities, governance processes and internal BAU functions
- Monitoring and tracking the Integrated Assurance and Approvals Plan (IAAP) to assure key activities are being delivered and identify areas where progress may not be to plan
- Managing conflict and providing authoritative advice where needed as part of assurance activities
- Undertaking work as required by the plan or due to emergent requirements
- Taking the lead in communicating effectively with external stakeholders and presenting and delivering accurate progress reports as required
- Collaborating with internal stakeholder functions as required, such as Internal Audit & INA
- Actively seeking to challenge, identify and suggest improvements to increase performance and reduce costs
- Prepare, analyse and deliver reports of progress against the planned assurance activities and escalate any risks or issues

**Who you are**

You’ll have relevant experience of working in an assurance or audit function, ideally having led previous assurance activities. Those with a good level of knowledge of project/programme delivery including project governance may have an advantage. with a good level of knowledge of project/programme delivery including project governance.

A background in Assurance or Quality is desirable and ideally you’ll have good financial acumen and understanding of audit processes, internal controls and governance. Exposure to the Nuclear environment would be preferred, however if not, experience in any other highly regulated environment is also ideal.

You’ll be an approachable, easy to get along with individual who takes an analytical approach to new topics, and can present robust conclusions. Due to the seniority of stakeholder you’ll at times work with, you must be proactive and effective at developing strong working relationships with both internal and external parties.
