Our client is a well-established, forward-thinking chartered accountancy practice. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team in Grimsby.

**Purpose of the Bookkeeper Role**:
The main purpose of this role is to give excellent bookkeeping support to a variety of clients of different sizes from different industries.

**Bookkeeper Responsibilities**:

- Sales, purchase and nominal ledger maintenance/processing
- Responsible for maintaining and organising a varied client portfolio, ensuring highest service levels are maintained at all times
- Bank reconciliations
- VAT return preparation
- Preparation of unincorporated business accounts for both management and year-end purposes
- Dealing with client queries, the role has the potential for on-site support visits to client premises
- Process clients’ financial data into accounting software in a timely and accurate manner
- Preparation of CIS returns
- Manage invoicing for clients, monitor incoming payments, and oversee purchase invoice management to the firm’s Dext cloud system and outgoing payments
- Assist in preparing basic financial information to trial balance ready for Client Manager review and preparation of statutory financial statements
- Work with clients to monitor their spending against budgets, highlighting any significant variances
- Advising clients on the use of accounting software
- support with the payroll process by calculating wages, preparing payslips, and ensuring accurate submission of payroll taxes
- Actively look and share ideas to improve internal processes of the Practice in order to assist in creating greater efficiencies or improved client experience

**The Perfect Bookkeeper will be**:

- Experienced in a similar role
- AAT qualified or qualified by experience
- Customer service experience with the ability to develop strong working relationships with clients and colleagues
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and familiarity with UK financial regulations
- Organised, friendly, reliable, have great communication skills and a willingness to learn are essential
- Familiarity with cloud accounting software and Microsoft Office 365
