Hillingdon Health Centre (UB10 9QF) are looking for Receptionist with a friendly, helpful and approachable manner for our GP practice. You will join an established reception team who, whilst busy, are all very friendly, helpful and committed to offering the best service possible to our patients and colleagues.
You will being working as a receptionist answering the phone and helping patients at the front desk. You will also be undertaking administrative tasks related to patient care. You will need excellent customer service skills and be able to work well as part of the team and on your own. Training is provided but previous receptionist experience in a health care setting and a genuine interest in working in a GP practice are essential. Knowledge of Emis Web and Docman is desirable. Flexibility and a can do attitude are essential.
The practice has about 20 staff including GPs, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Administrators and Receptionists. Staff are well supported and work together as a practice team to offer the best health care possible to the local practice population.
**Job responsibilities**
Job Summary
To be the first point of contact for all patient enquires, and to treat patients at all times with warmth, dignity, respect and efficiency telephone. Also to assist in practice administration, particularly document scanning.
Main duties
Reception duties:
- To work in the reception area welcoming patients to the practice, treating them courteously, with dignity and respect at all times.
- To enable patients to access health care, directing them to appointments with appropriate members of the practice team, or outside services
- Booking, changing and cancelling appointments in person or over the telephone
- Answering patient’s general queries
- Taking telephone calls and messages, liaising with clinical and administrative staff, hospitals etc
- Receiving and accurately recording requests for home visits
- Tidying waiting and reception areas before and after surgery
- Chaperone patients for personal examinations if required (training will be provided)
- Maintaining reception standards
- Other duties relevant to reception as required

- Excellent communications skills
- Accuracy in numeracy and literacy
- Accuracy in keyboard and computer skills
**Desirable**
- Knowledge of EMIS and/or Docman
- Knowledge of Excel and Word
**Experience**
**Essential**
- Previous experience working as a receptionist in a health environment (GP or hospital)
**Desirable**
- Previous experience working in an NHS GP practice
**Qualifications**
**Essential**
- Maths and English GCSE A-C or equivalent
**Desirable**
- Customer services training

**Salary**: £11.44-£11.50 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
