North Wales Police are looking for Communication Operators to join their busy team at the Joint Communications Centre in St Asaph in this challenging but highly rewarding role. If you're looking for a chance to make a real difference to the communities ofNorth Wales, this could be the job for you.

As a front line call handler, you will be required to answer calls from the public, often in emergency and distressing situations. You will be required to assess those calls and be responsible for directing the level of police response required. The rolealso involves the dispatching by radio of the various Police resources across North Wales.

The role provides individuals an ideal opportunity to those seeking a career within Policing.

- Salary -£11.97 an hour
- Start date

- Location-St Aspah
- Monday to Friday only
- Five day working week, 8 hours per day (including meal break)
- Shift times will typically be either 08:00 - 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00
- Rota known to you well in advance

North Wales Police are committed to representing the Welsh Language, and as such we are recruiting for minimum Level 2 Welsh Speakers (understand and participate in basic conversations).

If you are:

- calm in stressful situations
- able to work independently, using your own initiative, and also as part of a team
- good at problem solving
- familiar with the geography of North Wales
- able to type 25-30 words per minute
- familiar with information technology, including Windows systems

...then you could be just what we're looking for.

We don't expect you to have _all_ the essential skills from day one though. We'll teach you:

- how to answer calls from the public and assess their needs
- responsibility for directing the level of police response required
- how to dispatch police resources via radio
- how to use our bespoke policing IT systems
