**The role and what you'll be doing**:
As head of risk, you will deliver the operational risk framework within the timeframes, defining the operational risk programme, top risks reporting, risk appetite & tolerance metrics, strong control inventory framework, capital assessment using the standardised method, scenario analysis and MI reporting.

You will ensure the effectiveness of internal controls, managing risks and providing assurance to the senior management team that our operations are conducted with integrity, efficiency and in total compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations. You will be Assessing and mitigating significant competitive, regulatory, and technological threats to an enterprise's capital and earnings.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive audit and risk strategy, aligned with the business objectives.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing audit and risk management team.
- Lead and manage the internal audit function, overseeing the planning, execution, and reporting of internal audit activities.
- Work with senior and functional leaders to ensure risks to the achievement of our organisational goals are identified, assessed, and managed effectively.
- Conduct internal audits to assess compliance and identify areas of potential risk for continuous improvement strategy operational risk.
- Oversight of the Operational Risk team as a second line of defence in the day-to-day execution and management of the operational risk framework to include key risk management activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the audit and risk management functions.
- Implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of internal processes.
- Project manage the organisation's efforts to secure and maintain industry recognised control standards.
- Communicate risk management and audit findings, recommendations, and insights effectively across the company.
- Support the Chief Compliance Officer with development and implementation of the operational risk framework and strategy.
- Support the Chief Compliance Officer to manage and constantly enhance the Risk Management Committee reports to ensure the dashboard on risk performance is well developed and appropriate.
- Own and drive the process of embedding the operational risk framework throughout the business areas and contribute to the risk and control culture of the organization through knowledge sharing and awareness on the importance of risk management.
- Organize and facilitate workshops for process mapping of key business processes, the identification and assessment of inherent business risks and controls.
- Influence and monitor progress of action plans to improve the risk and control environment arising from risk assessments, risk monitoring, internal and external audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Act as second line of defence to ensure the business continuity plan remains fit for purpose and participate in the tests to ensure the control environment is appropriate.
- Promote an appropriate culture of awareness and attention to OR throughout the business in line with evolving regulatory requirements.
